I currently use a local cable company but am thinking of getting UBC, as certain channels are no longer available via the local outfit.

If I did go for UBC and kept the existing cable provider, would I be able to readily watch the local cable channels as well as UBC?

As long as your TV has two sets of A/V (audio-video RCA phono) input jacks (preferrably S-Video but the TV will probably have only one of these) you feed each cable box into them. Then you just use your remote to switch which A/V inputs are your source to switch between systems.

I had local cable on the bedroom TV and UBC on the Living room TV. My wife would sometimes want to watch Thai TV while I was watching UBC. Worked great.
