Guest
I'm really happy to see these better quality android phone cameras coming out. It's not only the camera abilities, but also the abilities for software developers to get these devices even further. The results will be something much more than a camera or a phone or a computer can do by themselves. Here is a dpreview article of the camera http://connect.dpreview.com/post/7107523787/panasonic-announces-lumix-dmc-cm1-smartphone-with-1-inch-sensor And some of my thoughts about a year ago when Samsung brought it's Camera phones to the market. http://www.sfonge.com/forum/topic/camera-android There will be shift to the photography once the software developers get really interested of developing software to the cameras and to the image processors. We are getting closer to that moment all the time as visual media is more important. Sensor megapixels does not anymore need to mean that there are more details on a single photo, why not to make a HDR image with splitted (lower amount of pixels) at one go? sunshine51
Hmmmmmmm....After the "holiday season" in France & Germany eh? When for the rest of the world? Really...these type of cameras with a phone built in are challenging the norm and they sure interest me to no end. However it's most likely gonna be a bit pricey so the thought of leaving it for a picosecond on the bar is well outta the game plan when owning one. Being my cynical self one may or may not even be able to impress their mates & friends (ladies) with it for much longer than a couple hours and then what do you have left? A prety damn good gadget that's what! I bet it'll be interesting to figure out how to "root" the phone....and how long that will take to reach the various droid forums dedicated to rooting. BTW..."rooting" has no carnal incantations...it simply applies to giving the phones owner access to "admin" privledges inside the phones software. Makes many things much easier to accomplish also and rooting your phone is not a complicated process as long as one follows the instructions & gets the required software to facilitate the root. Heck...I root my phones so if I can do it...anybody can. I have seen some really nice results from a rooted Samsung Galaxy camera phone....and not just for what the phone end can do. sustento
Panasonic are a bit dodgy when it comes to rooting and stuff like that. They used to make one of the few DVD writers where you couldn't alter the region code after you'd had your 5 goes. They also make it much more difficult to make their DVD players region free than other brands.
sunshine51
^^^ Thanks for that sustento...never knew pana was that "picky". However there is an infamous rooting site on the web and since this is a droid phone...Pana may be able to do little about the root. PM me if you want a link to the site... sustento
I don't think I'll be needing to root it as I expect it will be a little too pricey for me. I'm happy with my I-mobile with its 18MP! camera

tw25rw
I'm not sure the demand is there for this, but in a way I think it's ahead of it's time.
