You know, there was another thread here discussing the usage (of lack thereof) google...

I googled: AngThong Marine National Park

And one of the first links it listed was:

wikitravel

wikipedia

For anyone who would like to know the answer, I recommend looking at the wikipedia page, so hopefully this will become a habit instead of just asking stuff on thaivisa.

In the above wikipedia page, if you follow a link to Ko Phaluai wiki page, you'll see an excellent map over the islands of AngThong Marine National Park. Why this map is not on the main page itself, I have no idea, but maybe somebody will bother to take the time editing it in there.

Strangely, the table of islands on the Ko Phaluai page consist of more islands than in the Ang Thong Marine National Park page, but this may be because the Ko Phaluai is part of the Ang Thong group of islands, but not all the Ang Thong group of islands are part of the national park.

I partly agree with Mole ^ but then sometimes one gets inundated with too much information doing a Google search .... blink.pngfacepalm.gif

It really did not answer the OP's question... but as far as I know Koh Toa is not part of the group of 40 or so islands that do make up Angtong National Marine Park.

I had not heard of this island Ko Phaluai, or if I had it had never stuck in my mind... it gets one side tracked on the information one was actually looking for!

Some people say "Google is your friend", but there are some times that is not the case! whistling.gif Two things I looked up yesterday, lead to not giving me the answers I was looking for!

Hope this has not confused things more! tongue.png

How confusing can it really be? Google comes up with link to wikipedia, and in there there's a table with lists of all the island in the national park.

So, one needs to see if Koh Tao is in that list or not. If it's not then one has the answer..... or will this also confuses somebody because they are unable to find it specifically written somewhere that it is or is not part of the national park?

I deliberately did not answer that question directly so that one would click and check out the info oneself. After all it's better to get info from a reputable source than an "as far as I know" reply in here.

In fact, I wasn't even sure of that answer myself, so I did exactly what I told in my previous post to find out.

The whole point of asking the question. There is no definitive answer in Google, Wikipedia nor the Thai National Park sites. I think it is probably not. So...why not? The Q obviously relates to both inland and beach appropriations of land

I only just read this. Why TV members resort to abuse I fail to understand.....Instead of being condescending...you think we do not have research skills?..answer the question. Is it or Is it not?

What do you want me to think? If you had research skills, you would have gotten your answer by just clicking on that link I already provided for you.

Didn't you see that table list of islands in wikipedia? Do you see Koh Tao there? If it's not in the list, then it's not part of the national park....

It says "Table of Islands"

I'm gonna spell it out for you in plain text:

Koh Tao is not part of the Ang Thong National Park, because Koh Tao is not listed in the wikipedia page.

Besides, Koh Tao, Samui, Pha-ngan is not even part of Ang Thong group of islands.

I need to repeat what I wrote in my first reply again.

There are the Ang Thong group of islands, and only a few of these islands forms the Ang Thong National Park. For example, Ko Phaluai which is the biggest island, only northern tip of this island is part of the national park. (according to wikipedia)

Since Koh Tao, Samui & Pha-ngan aren't even part of the Ang Thong group of islands, they're also certainly not part of the national park.

And before I saw this thread, I didn't even know about this, and I realize this now after checking out the data found on the wikipedia pages.

I'm not merely providing you the answer, but I'm also telling you how I found out and where to check the said information so anyone can verify.

Just because you couldn't find any mention about Koh Tao in the wikipedia pages, means the answer is staring you in the face.

If it was part of the islands, Koh Tao would have been mentioned in there. If there's no mention, then it's not in the national park.....
