October 28, 201411 yr I will be in Chiang Mai in 2 weeks but I am arriving late on a Friday night. It will be midnight probably. Is there a bus that leaves to Chiang Rai during that time? If not, is there a place I can chill out before I head out? I will get a room if there aren't any other ideas, it's just that I'd rather not since I am staying just a couple hours and catching the early morning bus to Chiang Rai. Help me kill 7 hours
October 29, 201411 yr The Greenbus [VIP] from the CM Arcade can be recommended. I've only gone in the mornings, but they may have departures in the afternoon and evenings. Happy trails.

October 29, 201411 yr Yzak I posted a link to the Greenbus timetable and as you can see you will need to leave in the morning. Please note that unless you are on an extremely tight budget stay away from A class bus service. Not that it's inherently bad (actually better than Greyhound in North America), but the cost savings of 41฿ isn't worth enduring narrow seats reduced pitch and the constant stops as locals climb on and off along the route. In addition X class passengers receive a bottle of water and a small snack. VIP fare is exactly double the price of A class and if you can afford it, worth the outlay. It features a 2x1 configuration with extra wide seats, generous leg room and in seat entertainment (bring a headset). Prices for CM to CR are as follows: VIP class 288฿, X class 185฿, A class 144฿.
October 29, 201411 yr I believe you are close to a mall with a 24 hour coffee shop and a 24 hour Subway. I believe the McDonalds is also open 24 hour. It is less than a ten minute walk.
