A1 bus from MRT/BTS to Don Mueang airport

Featured Replies

Yesterday I finally figured out how to take the A1 bus TO DMK (having taken it FROM there many times). There is no signage inside the MRT station at Chatuchak Park, so you need to know that you take exit 2. The A1 bus stop is right outside. I don't know which exit number you need from the BTS Mo Chit station. A previous thread dealt with the A1 bus service to and from Mochit bus station. I tried to understand the small notice on the bus itself (mostly in Thai). I think it says that whilst there is a service from DMK to Mochit bus station, there is no service in the other direction. If that is correct then one would need to travel to the MRT/BTS in order to take the bus to DMK. It also seems that there is a service now to Lad Phrao.

Incidentally the A1 bus really motors. On the tollway, we came up behind the DMK-BKK shuttle and left it for standing. The female driver was on a mission.

I took the bus Monday afternoon and was standing near driver who had the old bus doing 95 at one point....the highway makes the ride very quick. After seeing a long taxi line this was really a better alternative .

There is NO service, in whatever direction, to Mochit BUSterminal.

The added sign simple says that A1, on demand, will stop at the stop across from Central lard Prao shopping centre. ON Wipawadee, NOT on Lard Prao itself

Untill maybe 4-5 weeks ago, there was a sign for this route, a kind of fixed standing flag, at the waiting point at Mochit-a little more north as the common multi-bus-stop. But you can board anywhere along if it opens doors to let people off.

As far as catching the A1 bus headed for DM after getting off the BTS at Mochit or MRT there...

The pickup point for the A1 bus headed outbound to DM is on the park side of the street, northward or beyond all of the BTS stairs exits/entrances to the Mochit Station.

So basically, the drop off and pickup points for the A1 are pretty parallel to each other on opposite sites of the road there -- both north / beyond the farthest BTS station stairs.

On the park side of the street for the outbound pickup headed for DM, the only marker on the street is a single metal sign pole along the curb that has an "A1" sign maybe 7-8 feet off the ground.

I was at DM early this morning to drop off my wife for a flight. And at around 6 am, there was no sign of an A1 bus coming or going.

If you look at the current signage they have posted, the A1 appears to not start running out of DM until 7:30 am, if you consider the handwritten correction that's been done over the printed 7 am start time on their sign.

BTW, I was amazed to see DM at 6 am on a Sunday morning... The place was BUSY!!! Must be lots of early morning flights. We had to wait in a queue of traffic just for our taxi to get into the airport to drop us off.

Does anyone know if any buses go from Sukhumvit to DMK ... ?

I don't think there is but thought i'd ask in case someone knows different ...

TIA

According to the bus schedules, there is at least one -- unless the BMTA has changed their routes without telling anyone again.

The 513 line is listed as running along Suk Road through the Nana area, then onward to Victory Monument, Mochit and ultimately Don Mueang.

There's also quite a few buses that run from Victory Monument and Mochit to DM, including the 510 and the 538, and the 29 from Mochit to DM.

Victory Monument and Mochit, both easily accessible from Sukhumvit via the BTS Sukhumvit Line.

Most people starting out from Sukhumvit, if they're not taking a taxi, take the BTS to Mochit and then the 30 baht A1 bus from Mochit BTS onward to DMK.

We took a meter taxi from Asoke to DM this morning via the expressway, and the fare was 160 baht plus 50 baht toll for the expressway.

Since we were leaving so early in the morning, neither BTS or the A1 bus were running at that hour, so we had few other choices.

Where do you find the A1 bus at DM to head back ?

and when is the first and last bus of the day ?

does it go once or twice an hour ?

thanks for the info

I guess I just was lucky flying in/out of DMK with one night stop over.

A1 left seconds after I saw and boarded, took the BTS at Moh Chit onwards.

Return leaving deep into Suk soi 4 tried to get a taxi, but they asked 400 and 300B, walked to Nana, took BTS and down exit 2 Moh Chit, waited just one minute for the A1, was it 42B BTS + 30B bus?

Could have saved the walking to Nana, the hotel had a shuttle bus, stupid me whistling.gif

See posts 4 and 5 above for details.

The pickup point at DM for the A1 bus is on the ground level, which is the arrivals level, right out at curbside. It's just to the right of the doors you exit out from coming out of the domestic arrivals.
