Public Health Ministry intensively controlling the spread of three major diseases

The Public Health Ministry is tightly controlling the spread of bird flu, dengue fever and foot-and-mouth disease in several areas.

Dr. Khamnuan Ungchusak (คำนวณ อึ้งชูศักดิ์), the Director of the Epidemiology Bureau of the Disease Control Department, said the outbreaks of these three diseases have been reported in certain areas at the same time.

Dr. Khamnuan said more than 20,000 people have been sick of dengue fever and 23 of them had died. A patient died of avian influenza in Phichit and eight others died of foot-and-mouth disease in Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Pathom and Bangkok.

Dr. Khamnuan asked the people to take good care of themselves and try to stay healthy.
