However, the striped pattern makes me think it could actually be a King Cobra. Very dangerous. And beautiful. Unfortunately dead. Hope it comes back to haunt you. As said in OP, the deed was done before I arrived. "Nae me yur Awnur" My GF and friends wife were told "It went for one of the wife's, who were doing washing nearby. That night the GF, mates wife and her mother where all burning joss sticks. Seemingly in the past a snake lived underground below my home.
