Husband charged: Woman in clinic after acid attack

A man allegedly doused his wife with acid on Thursday night in Kampong Thom province’s Sandan district, eight days after an acid attack scarred a mother and her 2-year-old daughter in Takeo.

Pav Kol, 35, tied his wife, 24-year-old Prak Hang, to a pillar and beat her for supposedly cheating on him while he was living with another woman, said communal police chief Mern Mai.

He was about to douse her with acid when she pushed his hand and some of the liquid fell on her genital area.

Mai said that the injury was not so serious after Hang received the proper medical care.

Kol was arrested and charged on Saturday, said deputy district police chief Noun Komnith.

Hang remains in hospital.

The attack is the fourth this year, bringing 2014’s survivor tally to five people.

In the Takeo case, police remain on the lookout for two suspects, officials confirmed.
