Use of Chiang Mai Retirement Visa anywhere in Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Wife and I have had a Non O imm Visa purposes Retirement for 3 years now - based in Chiang Mai.

It comes up for renewal in February. If we renew in Chiang Mai - will it serve purpose elswhere in Thailand?

e.g. can we do our 90 day reporting say in Hua HIn?? Could be stay in Hua Hin as opposed to Chiang Mai?

Best Rgds.

Factseeker.

If you do your extension of stay in Chiang Mai and are in Hua Hin at the time that the 90 day report is due you either put the address of the place that you are staying in Hua Hin on the TM47 form and go to the Hua Hin immigration office, or mail your report to Chiang Mai. I think, but do not know for sure, that Chiang Mai accepts reports by post.

They do. If you movie permanently go to your new immigration office and fill out a TM-28 forum with your new address and you will be registered at this location.

For details on mailing your report to Chiang Mai see this thread. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/782670-immigration-office-is-officially-broken/page-3#entry8782392

Hi,

Thnxs for reply.

Just a point on checking another comment thread apparently I have 'an extension of stay not visa' - as I got all the paperwork in Thailand - Chang Mai - moving from Tourist - to 90 days - to 12 months purposes Retirement.

Does this make any difference??

This would be the third renewal - funds remain inThai Bank as at start - in fact my pensions continue to be paid there plus have the correct re-entry permits etc.

Hope to hear comments - Best Rgds.

All the info remains the same.

You can make your 90 day reports to any immigration office if you have a local address to put on the TM47 form. Some offices make ask for proof of that address.

You can also do your reports by mail to CM immigration but the self addressed envelope would have to be for a CM address.
