BANGKOK, Dec 18 -- Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Yuthavong today witnessed the incineration of 2,167 kilograms of narcotics worth Bt6.56 billion in Ayutthaya province.

Most of the drugs were methamphetamines.

Mr Yongyuth presided at the incineration at the Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate at 10am.

The Court of First Instance confiscated the drugs from 1,059 narcotic cases and approved their elimination.

2 tons incinerated!!

Which probaby means, that at least 10 tons was confiscated.

The missing 8 tons found its way back to the market in mysterious ways!!

I guess the random searching of foreigners is paying off for the Thai police.

An old big time smuggler said back in the day "there are only two kinds of drug dealers...the ones who need forklifts and the ones who don't".

i was watching a great youtube vid on Pablo Escobar the other day. really interesting story if you are into documentaries. at one point he had the Colombian government build him a private prison complete with movie theater, bowling alley, pools, etc and had his lieutenants and hookers come to visit when ever he liked.

Blimey! I wouldnt wanna be downwind of that place....ill bet the crickets in the trees are starting bushfires by rubbing their legs together at warp speed...

Isn't this an annual occurrence here? They store up whatever they confiscate during the year and in December, burn whatever's left?

I bet that had a lot of cops cringing. facepalm.gif

Amazing Thailand! Where else can you see the tip of an iceberg burning?

Virtually every narcotic has a safe medicinal use and they burn tons of it ? Thai authorities just love demolishing/leveling/destroying and never seem to consider

converting, ( luxury resorts make great govt. offices, clinics. schools etc. ), remodeling/relocating etc. Most of the places/things they destroy are far better than what they keep !

Well done, now where is the remaining 98 tonnes?

Narcotics being burnt, that's what was written on the box anyway

+1...

Maybe with all this incineration of drugs almost daily, the government couldn't generate some electricty as a by-product.

Worth: Bt6.56 billion
Holy crap.

Who are the people behind?
