Motor Bike on Thai Trains & Dog friendly accomodation

Featured Replies

Happy New Year ALL

Two questions please

1. Has any one had recent experience of travelling with a motorbike (500cc) on Thai trains ?

I wish to travel from Huahin to Surat Thani or maybe Had Yai …. all advise welcome

2. Dog friendly guest houses in Thailand , specifically in the Bang Suphan / Bang Krutt area…… just a beach bungalow where the dog can stash on balcony

Thank

All the best

Long life and happiness to you all

Tell them you want to take your bike when booking your ticket in Hua Hin. As it's a 500cc, it'll probably work out more than your ticket and you'll likely have to tip those that load/unload since there are rarely ramps. I'd also take my own straps and wrap it up.

How's about this place? Not far from train station by the looks.

500cc is a pretty heavy bike to be loading on to a train. Used to grunt and groan a lot ramping mine (classic Honda CX500) into a van. I'd be concerned about finding decent tie-down attachment points. Trains in Thailand tend to lurch and rock a lot; not infrequently off the rails.

I wonder if they'll make you drain or remove the gas tank.

If you were not aware already, to take your Bike anywhere by train in Thailand you have to show the bikes registration papers
