baboon
Always used to stay there when I visited Bangkok, but obviously sadly no more. Any ideas where I should go next? I am not interested in 'company' if that has any influence on the answer. Cheers!
Gonsalviz
Nope, Rex is gone too. Seems only Nana is left. Sorry, the Park is still there I think. Edited January 5, 2015 by Gonsalviz

Thanyaburi Mac
And the Golden Palace on Suk Soi 1 is also gone. One friend recommends the Honey on Soi 19, problem there is the parking, not much. Wifey and I stayed at the Nana a few months back, no wifi in the room, didn't like that. So, I'm still looking for digs on Sukumvit for the occasional RON downtown. happydude303
The honey on 19 looks run down these days , just get on Agoda and look, there are many better hotels in Sukhumvit , new ones as well
BoneRanger
The Federal was a time capsule. I hear they built the hotel around 1965 for 1,000,000Baht. Sold for 900,000,000Baht. That's 18,000,000Baht per year in property appreciation. Not bad.

dddave
If you like "character", there is always the Florida Hotel on Suk. Soi 2, near Ploen Chit BTS. Used as a location for many movies because of it's unaltered '70's exterior, Aggressively "un-friendly" to accompanying Thai ladies; sometimes refuse entry to westerners legitimate wives. Desk staff not know for warmth and hospitality. Reportedly, if pre-paid on a booking site, they will still demand an extra $10 or so on check-in. (report on Trip-Advisor) How's that for a recommendation? Edited January 6, 2015 by dddave

dddave
"It is The Atlanta Hotel on Soi 2" Yup! My bad. Thanks for the correction. "the crown" If you mean the "Crown Sukhumvit" between Soi's 6 & 8, now called the "S-6" and bills itself as a "Boutique Hotel" Can't help but wonder if they removed the ceiling mirrors. Spaniel
the crown or Omni towers on soi 4 If you are referring to the Crown on Sukhumvit 29 that too has been torn down. Its sister hotel, the Crown, also on Sukhumvit between Soi 6 & 8, was recently sold and renamed S 6 Sukhumvit Hotel. Another good choice in that area from the "old days" is the Miami Hotel on Soi 13. baboon
Sorry to go off my own topic here, but what kind of clientele does the Atlanta attract in actual fact? Is it a real-life Fawlty Towers? Do they truly have the customer base in today's difficult economic climate to be able to pick and choose their guests?
