Foreign Affairs Ministry will work w/ UN in sending peace troops to Lebanon

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with the security-related agencies of Thailand and the United Nations (UN) in sending Thai troops to watch over peace in Lebanon, following the conclusion of the war.

Mr. Kantathi Suphamongkhon, the Foreign Affairs Minister, talked about the restive situation in Lebanon, after the ceasefire has been ordered by the UN. He said Thailand will have an unofficial discussion with the UN in New York. Thailand will wait for the readiness in coordinating with the security units of the country, as they will have to consider the appropriateness in dispatching Thai armed forces to maintain peace in Lebanon. They will also have to see the UN’s demands. Over the past, Thailand has continued to work together in preserving peace throughout the world.

The Foreign Affairs Minister said no Thai people in Lebanon have been injured from the war. However, three Thais are wounded in Israel, but they have been hospitalized.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is willing to coordinate with the Thai people living in those countries who would like to return to Thailand.

The ministry asks the Thai people there to be careful while traveling, and they can contact the Royal Thai Embassies for assistance.
