Better airport/roads will attract more tourists, Andaman-based Chamber of Commerce says

TRANG, 20 January 2015 (NNT) - Mr. Salil Tohtubtieng, chairman of Trang’s Chamber of Commerce acting as chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Andaman Provinces, has requested the government to develop transport facilities around five provinces along the Andaman coast after tourists have complained about traffic inconveniences during their trips.

The five Andaman provinces are Phuket, Ranong, Krabi, Phang-nga and Trang. With exotic natures attracting holiday makers, these provinces are expected to see a ten per cent increase in the number of tourists this year, according to Mr. Salil.

He also called for an expansion of Trang Airport in order to mitigate the passenger congestion at airports in Phuket and Krabi. The airport expansion will accommodate more passengers, resulting in greater revenue.

In terms of tourist safety, although tourist attacks have not yet been reported in Andaman provinces, Mr.Salil asked local authorities, private sectors and local residents for their help to protect tourists from dangers and crime. The friendly atmosphere will encourage more tourists to the provinces, he added.
