Why only one immigration centre in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

With the amount of people needing to renew their stays every few months and the amount of Foreigners here, why is there only one immigration centre in Bangkok, away from the city centre too?

Actually there are three.

One stop center is for BOI companies only and Suan Phlu is for migrant worker only.

In a place with so many extension of stays, address reports, etc that a Foreigner needs to do, it is baffling why there is only one place for this service, in which pretty much half to a whole day is wasted every three months, just waiting. Not a rant, just curious as there must be a legitimate reason for this (legal requirements, licensing, etc)

No legitimate reason.

Just simple disinterest to supply better service to foreigners.

Does not sum up to invest in more places? (cost saving)

Archaic centralism, all in the "government park".

Some people upcountry are hit harder, as they have to visit "their responsible" immigration office 200 km away, while the next office would be 50 km. (just to give an example)

There are 3, so there is the premise for your little rant shot to sh * t

what difference does it make if there is 1 or 10. what matters is if they have the staff to handle the work load

The difference is the premise the OP used to justify his rant was stating there was only one immigration office, and as other posters pointed out there is in fact 3, so the OP lost all credibility from there on in ;)

Well if you think I am ranting so be it. Even though there are three, most foreigners only can to one unless you can enlighten us on how we can go to the other two to do the 90 day extensions.

gosh soutpeel <deleted> does it matter if there are 3 offices if only 1 of the office is relevant to the vast majority of farang on this board?

your combination of grumpy old man/Thai apologist is amusing.

All the complaints about long wait for 90 day reporting are nuts. Mail your report in..........

Not an old man or apologist by a long shot, the OP started a rant on the basis of something which was factually incorrect, he was wrong in his OP was called on it and he tried to change his story then :P

Lol, what a back pedal not only to complain about my so called rant but to try to make it like I was trolling.

Moderator, I think this post is heading towards a path that may just end up bring troll bait. Can you please close it? Thanks
