This morning for some reason the neighbors chickens were all quiet, maybe they had all died peacefully in their sleep overnight but that was probably too much to hope for.

Anyway because of the quiet chickens I could for the first time actually hear the birds chirping in the trees.

So feeling pretty good and at one with the world I when to the girls room to wake them to get ready for school.

Good morning girls, said I, it's a lovely day the sky is blue the sun is shining and the birds are tweeting.

This got me a couple of strange looks and the comment "don't be silly daddy birds don't tweet"

I then had to explain that in my day when mobile phones were affectionally known as bricks we did not have social media and tweeting birds did not mean birds were all up in the trees busily texting.

Nothing quite like starting the day being reminded of your age.

Daffy, this is atypical post of an old fart........

Sorry mate, but I don't think either that birds tweet......it's people that do so......again, I'm sooooooo young, how would I know about brick mobiles.......I've read it in the history books.
