meatboy
Very sorry to hear this, meatboy. I don't know anything about this parasite, so I'm afraid I can't say anything useful. I hope others will be better informed! thanks ib,what i found out about this parasite is,if a dog swallows a tick,it then breaks up into say segments, these then attack the white blood cells. so inbetween blood tests he must have either swallowed one or the blood, and the latest blood test [monday] found 2. it goes on to say some dogs will carry this all their life. symptoms are loss of appitite, weight loss, muscle weakness but this is the opposite to him. as its just been found out we have to wait and hope. Nienke
I'm very sorry to hear/read this, Meatboy. From what I've read the occurrence of H. Canis in Thailand isn't high. And if caught in the early stages, chances on recovery are there. But, you have to be on top of it. And it seems you are. Here's some reading material on this subject: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6TD7-3SR342P-N&_user=10&_rdoc=1&_fmt=&_orig=search&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=f9c3a338d8b54f32519b578f341a2c77 http://www.vivapets.com/article/tiks_as_carriers_of_diseases/6 http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00580-006-0606-6 http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1196/annals.1373.071/abstract http://tru.uni-sz.bg/tsj/Vol.6,%20N2,%202008/A.ivanov_et_al1.pdf

I suppress all those feelings and look at the dogs, who seem to say "what?" Your boy is looking at you worried and thinking, "jeez Dad's taking Wales' Six Nations form pretty seriously". You're doing all the right things the way you're taking care of this temporary glitch. Keeping him happy will keep you and the Missus happy! Popular Post Mobi
It is a thread for animal lovers and those of us who have empathy for the suffering of sick animals and their owners - nobody is forced to read it.... meatboy - Glad to hear you dog is recovering, it must be such a relief. Wayned - I hope she pulls through, my heart goes out to both of you. I lost my golden retriever last year to skin cancer and I still can't think about her without tears coming to my eyes. Fortunately, we have three more dogs who we love to bits. It really does help if you have more than one dog.

wayned
If the path leads her there, my wife joined our loved ones at the rainbow bridge this morning to wait for me and our other friends The extent of the ruptured aneurysm and complications of the surgery were just too severe.
