National Aids Committee resolves to revive school condom vending machine project

BANGKOK: -- The National Aids Committee Tuesday resolved to revive the project to install condom vending machines in schools and university, Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Yutthawong said.

Yongyuth chaired the committee meeting during which it approved a strategic plan to promote the use of condoms to contain HIV.

He said the project would start with installation of condom vending machines in vocation schools before the project would be expanded to other education institutions.

Funny how the supposedly right wing junta is undoing some of the more extreme yellow shirt right wingisms.

Having a condom apparently makes women drop their pants and lie down ready and waiting.

How soon before the hallways of the school will be filled with condom balloons and the need to fill

the machine often as most of the condoms soon will be sold on the streets,

Thai kids are not ready for such responsibility, rather than giving free condoms it will be much

better to have frequent sex education classes to hammer the message that safe sex is a necessity

and not optional for the better health and future of all young people...

One hopes that AIDS prevention is also taught inside the classroom as a component to sex education and the reproductive system , this coupled with the prevention would make students fully understand the dangers of unprotected sex , however the dangers of promiscuity is a chance you have to take, but Mum and Dad are now let of the hook and don't have to explain what all those bits and strange things happening are all about.

Youngsters nowdays start having sex in secondary school, due to internet and open culture on sex.

Most highly person contract HIV virus are students thinking they are safe companre with sex workers which taking a great precautions against AIDS.

Condom vending machines to be introduced at schools, colleges

BANGKOK: -- The national committee for AIDS prevention and resolution has endorsed the national condom strategy plan that will pave the way for installing condom vending machines at educational institutes across the country.

The endorsement was reached at the meeting of the committee Tuesday.

Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Yuthavong, as chairman of the national committee for AIDS prevention and resolution, said the national condom strategy allows coin-operated condom vending machines to be installed at educational institutes.

The machines will first be put up at vocational education institutes, whereas other types of institutes will gradually get the vending machines within four years’ time.

He said the slow pace of the implementation of the plan came amid expected opposition from civil society groups.

The deputy prime minister revealed further that the meeting also endorsed the proposal for the use of technology to allow members of the public to receive ‘self-tests’ for HIV infection that would allow them to quickly access treatment channels after learning of their infection.

A more detailed plan for this initiative will be yielded by June.

Earlier report released by the ministry showed teenagers carried high risk to HIV infections after statistics revealed increasing number of teens among HIV patients.

Nothing like starting arse-about-face. Try education first.

The first sentence may be an unfortunate choice of words in a conversation about condoms and HIV prevention.

Why the need for condom machines at the school? Surely they don't have sex during class do they? You can buy condoms at the 7/11, there are no age restrictions, this suggestion by the NAC will result in one thing, condom balloon's floating around the hallways as students laugh out loud.

Does anybody reckon the following ? You get a school or college, right, and there's no condom machine there. Now then, you start putting condom machines in that school, well, what you might be doing is encouraging or increasing the amount of sex that goes on.

Now, we know that there are girls who are fifteen and sixteen who have sex. But consider all girls who are fifteen and sixteen, do they feel comfortable at having to walk pass a condom machine everyday ? Do the boys try to use the condom machines to have sex with the girls ? The boys might not actually use a condom when having sex, but walking pass the machine with the girlfriend might give the message that sex is okay.

After all, the machine over there, it's there so that we can have some sex.
