Somebody can tell what is the only correct English written name of this village near Pattaya, if there is any? I'm surprised that Google earth and various websites using 'Bang' in stead of 'Ban' while 'ban' means something as 'village' / 'house' / 'houses' right other then 'Bangkok' which I think is one word? Why everyone uses 'Bang' or is it just taking Google as example but would 'Ban' actually be more correct? (and how about Saray versus Saree?)

Can`t give difinitive answer but most commonly used is Bang Saray

moo bahn/baan (long a/ah) is an n at the end noh nuu น not ngoh nguu ง

บ้าน baan meaning house.

บาง bang meaning .......... don't know.

Bang is a common word in central Thai used for a village, usually a village adjacent to some water. Up north a common word is "Pang" used for a village that was once but a forestry camp. They are all mubaans, with "Baan" being the most generic term used in the name of a settlement. Bangkok should be two words, as Thai does not separate words in written form, and it is only earlier western transliterations that give us the single word.

Officially (using the RTGS) บางเสร่ should be BANGSARE.

I use what Google Earth shows: Bang Sa-re

I don't know why a hyphen should be necessary here.

But anyway: sorry for my running gag: yet another example of the transcription chaos in the country.

But can not compete with Soi Buakhao (ซอยบัวขาว) in Pattaya.

I must have seen a dozen or more of partly ridicolous transcripts.

Always a good laugh.

Follow the signs on Sukhumvit to

"Bangsaray Municipality Office" and they lead you to

"Bangsare Municipality"

I am afraid this is a case where Google pronounces incorrectly.

Nothing is perfect not even Google

This เสร่ is one of the more tricky syllables ([false] consonant cluster?).

The "r" is not silent, implicit "a" between "s" and "r".

Starting from 2:00 min you will hear the correct pronounciation more than once.

Most clear at 2:28 min. 2:43 min.

And for me (non English) it fits well to "Bangsare".

If you know RTGS and trust that the transliteration is in the RTGS then it isn't necessary. As the latter is rarely advisable, it helps a lot.

What isthe law in Thailand that make you think that we cannot link any publication?

It does not exist, so only this forum decides to apply this rule or not.
