UDD wants a role in the DSI's probe into the 2010 anti-government protests

Natthawut-wpcf_728x413-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) has demanded a parallel panel to be set up to investigate the anti-government red-shirt protests in 2010.

UDD core leader Natthawut Saikua said that he would lead key members of the red-shirt movement to the Department of Special Investigation next week to demand that the UDD be allowed to take part in the investigation.

The participation in the probe can be in the form of setting up a parallel investigation team or the UDD can coordinate closely with the DSI throughout the investigation to ensure transparency.

The UDD’s move was in response to the DSI’s decision to set up a new team to investigate the incident five years ago.

Natthawut said that the UDD wanted to have a role in the probe by the DSI because former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva claimed that three army generals at the time of the protests namely General Prayut Chan-ocha, General Prawit Wongsuwan and General Anupong Paochinda were fully aware of all aspects of the protests and the government’s responses to the protests.

I suppose he wants a parallel panel to investigate the rice scam transporters division also?

The role of the UDD, will be to serve time in jail, for terrorism. Killing people, and scaring the bejeezus out of sane citizens countrywide, in order to return a brutal psychopath to resume his crime spree was rather an unpleasant thought for the majority with firing synapses up-top.

" Natthawut Saikua said that he would lead key members of the red-shirt movement to the Department of Special Investigation next week to demand that the UDD be allowed to take part in the investigation."

Doesn't he know that all suspects ultimately do take part in an investigation.

All he needs to do is be patient.

They'll get round to him and his fellow stormtroopers soon enough.

Is he getting nervous? This 'sir' has covered up for some serious crimes.

Amazing Thailand... indeed.

Hehee with article 44 in place now it would be interesting to see him bringing key members there to stir up trouble. Maybe Thailand will get lucky if he does this and the lot of them get imprisoned at the same time

Normally criminals are requested to attend a police station, often at their leisure, but here we them coming in voluntarily to make demands about the course of the investigation. Hope they remember to bring their toothbrushes.

Nattawut and others might consider asking nicely if he could revise their statements, those made in the heat of the moment tend to be self-incriminating.

The proper role of the UDD-leadership should be as witnesses giving evidence, both as to what happened on-the-ground, and about who financed their two-month-long rally, why they permitted the men-in-black to mingle with their supporters, and who made that fateful phone-call with instructions to reject the negotiated-settlement, which they'd just agreed-to on live-television ! wink.png

Doesn't he own a mirror?

Nattawut should be very careful what he asks for (demands) for someone is bound to remember that it was him that said that he would take responsibility.

'Burn it all down, I will take responsibility', would be the English translation.

His mate Arisaman wont be happy either for he was the one who urged the followers to " Each bring a liter of gasoline and turn BKK into a sea of flames"

These and more recorded on video for posterity and justice.

They should be held responsible as terrorists, that is what they are. Threatening to burn BKK down (and buildings were burned down). In a civilized country they would be in jail. But with the PTP in power before they were protected.. now they are not.

Let the games begin.

It seems Nattawut already had a role in the 2010 protests. Of course, any right thinking country would allow the worst criminals to be on the committee to investigate their own criminal participation. It makes perfect sense... if you are a guilty UDD leader. One thing, he's got chutzpah

I recently heard the Italian mafia wants a role in the probes against mafiosi

They could help with the investigation by asking their followers (or ex followers as the case may be) to identify the heavily armed men that moved freely within their protest areas.

Good to see that at least one person remembers what REALLY happened during that time and who said and did what.

It was an armed uprising with the (bought and paid for Royal Thaksin Police) sitting on their backsides refusing to defuse the situation in any way, shape or form, allowing the armed red shirts to occupy large swathes of downtown Bangkok, and all the while facilitating the armed men-in-black with information and arms.

Let's not also forget the continual grenade attacks and shootings that the MiB were perpetrating at the time, all with the intention of having the Govt crackdown on them. Which is exactly what they did. Thaksin got exactly what he wanted. It's just a shame the sheeple that actually paid the price for his insatiable quest for money and power didn't see it coming, and they still don't see that they are expendable pawns and that Thaksin doesn't give a crap about them, merely as pieces in a larger game to get HIM what HE wants.

what better way to hide the evidence against you than to be involved in the investigation. Strange that under the ptp they were quite happy to let the dsi do it all by themselves but then the ptp were telling them what they wanted them to find, now they are actually investigating the truth and not their to create bullsh*t to cover up red shirts lies & terrorism, let the fun begin

"Nattawut co-organised the mass protests in 2009 and, together with the other UDD heads, led the "Red Shirts" in the fierce protests from March to May 2010 that led to the bloody military crackdowns of April and May.[2] Nattawut, Jatuporn Prompan and other Red-Shirt leaders surrendered themselves to police to prevent further bloodshed during the violent military crackdown on 19 May 2010.[4] Afterwards, Nattawut was prosecuted on terrorism charges.[2] He was released on bail terms on 22 February 2011.[5]"

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nattawut_Saikua

and yet now in the OP "UDD core leader Natthawut Saikua said that he would lead key members of the red-shirt movement to the Department of Special Investigation next week to demand that the UDD be allowed to take part in the investigation."

Why would a UDD-leader want the UDD to be part of the DSI investigation, into events which they are alleged to have help organise, and for which he had been prosecuted for terrorism following his actions ?

Obviously because he wants to get to the truth, of what he & his fellows did, nothing to do with ensuring that nothing embarassing comes out ! wink.png

Yay for Reds 'fighting for justice' ! facepalm.gif

and in related news, a fox demanded that he & his fellows should have oversight, into the 'Hen-Coop Massacre' investigation ! laugh.png

This clown still seems to think that his UDD has a god given right to control whatever they choose.

Time he learned some facts of life.

Hang on a minute... when Methee was arrested driving around in his car in Bangkok with Tavors and M16s which he had "confiscated" from troops on 10 April, he folded and gave a statement that it was Natthawut who had given the orders to instigate violence.

Of course Natthawut denied this, and Jatuporn denied Methee's claims that Jatuporn had him threatened in attempt to get him to change his story... but how can anyone with as much incriminating evidence against them as Natthawut (above is one piece of many, and this one didn't even come from his own mouth) POSSIBLY demand any role into investigations in which they are the accused? Madness!

But, I suppose, in a world where those who question the "official 9/11 story" (which, as it happens, is physically impossible) are labelled by the US government as "terror risks", and GW Bush was allowed to give a statement in the "investigation" in secret, not under oath and behind closed doors... madness is the direction in which the world seems to be going.

"...... during a preparatory rally in Chantaburi province on January 27, UDD leader Nuttawut Saikua warned: “If [the government] takes control [of the Red Shirt camp], we will burn the whole country. Burn it all down, I will take the responsibility. If they want to arrest or whatever, they can come to me. If they seize control, burn!”

Now is the time.

UDD core leader Natthawut Saikua said that he would lead key members of the red-shirt movement to the Department of Special Investigation next week to demand that the UDD be allowed to take part in the investigation.

I suppose there will be five or less key members. I like his choice of words "demand" and I'm sure PM Prayut likes it more than I do.

The reason you can't see the military doing the investigation is because it's the DSI doing the investigation. Good, right?

Come on Ale - you know that the Shin supporters think the PM makes every decision, about everything. They are so used to Thaksin doing that for the Shin clan gang. Old days, Tarit wouldn't even decide to fart without asking the boss. New lady DSI boss is the real deal. They can't understand that.

And the Shins red shirt insurgents and black shirt mercenaries were totally peaceful innocent citizens.

To the UDD: be careful what you wish for!

  • Popular Post

I remember the red shirt leaders said they have all the proof, yet when the PTP was elected none of those proof surfaced. They hardly proceeded with investigations, instead they pushed for Amnesty for all so Thaksin could come back, the DEMs offered Amnesty for protesters, but NO they wanted it cover all politicians from 10 years ago too! Who the heck pardons corrupted politicians, and dating back 10 years ago! That is absurd!

It will be called "The counter investigation propaganda team.".

I think they are worried about the truth which will come out from the investigation. They know what it is as well as the rest of us who are not blinded by hate, greed and jealousy.

Of course it was just a minority of hard-core red-shirts and paid mercenaries who caused all the trouble : I feel very sorry for those who got caught up in the middle of someone else's political game and paid the price.

But they should realise that they were put there in a cold-blooded, pre-meditated plan in which their death was supposed to cause a peoples uprising so that someone could arrive at the airport to cheering masses like he has seen on TV and his ego wants so much.

Be careful what you wish for red terrorists - of course you will have a roll - preferably in court facing charges

exactly right on

It's ironic they now want to nominate themselves as part of law enforcement because their good friend Tarrit and numerous others have been removed from their posts

These people really have a warped sense of reality, next they'll be wanting to be nominated as judges in their own courts lol

I think the UDD already played their part. It's like Osama Bin laden being involved in investigating the 9/11 attacks.
