So what was it about the crime the BIB didn't understand and needed the suspects to reconstruct for them or was it just another excuse to parade in front of the media and look good ?

Knowing the BIB NEVER play fast and loose with the rules I suppose the suspects were told they didn't have to take part ? Oh silly me.

Slow day up there in Nong Khai ? Oh silly me. ;)

It's up to the RTP to portray themselves as they wish. I am not privy to inside information as to how they conduct their business in this particular case and cannot comment with any credibility.

You never see the rich and influential doing re enactments,

If any suspect is forced to do an re enactment then their

chance of a fair and impartial trail is impossible.

murder-21.jpg?b00397

PATTAYA: -- It was announced on Saturday that the final suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a Convenience Store owner, has now been arrested and awaits Trial on a charge of murder.

The final suspect wanted in connection with the case is Khun Supaporn aged 31, who was arrested in Khon Kaen Province and transported to Pattaya where she took part in a reconstruction of the murder as hundreds of angry villagers watched and shouted profanities at her.

She claimed she acted alone and used a hammer to repeatedly strike the head of the convenience store owner, who was not expected to be there and was awoken by the suspect who claimed she was the first to enter the store whole the other two previously arrested suspects waited outside.

I just went back and read the original 'suspects arrest' story on Pattaya One and noted this humdinger (see emphasis).

Both suspects were caught in Khon Kaen Province in the North-East of Thailand and are accused of involvement in the case which dates back to 21st March when the 60 year old store owner is accused of being murdered preceding the theft of her car and ransacking and theft of items from her store. The body of the owner was found 3 days later.

"You've been murdered! You're nicked!!"

Good one Nl this explains why the "accused of being murdered" failed to enter a plea.

So now you murder yourself and then commit robbery, Well done my dear.

I realise that its not due process but if she genuinely confessed to murdering the owner in what seems like cold blood, perhaps handing her over to the 'angry villagers' might have saved Thai taxpayers money. Interesting that she did have the guts to admit that she did it - most stories involving two men in a similar situation seem to have fingers pointed at one another. I'm assuming the death penalty is on the table for a crime of this nature ?

After Koh Tao, I'm still not sure I believe the Thai police when they tell us they've got their man/woman but her distress is clearly evident in that photo.

Can somebody explain this Thai practice of forcing suspects to re-enact the crime? This is both a gross violation of human rights and a completely useless investigative procedure. Is the reason as bad as it looks: the police simply think that this grotesque charade shows them doing their job properly? I'm far from new to Thailand, by the way, but this practice is one of the Thai things I hate most and it just keeps on shocking me with its incredible mixture of stupidity and barbarity.

^^ It seems to help in the court cases where direct evidence such as recorded re-enactment saves court procedure time.

You seem easily shocked for someone who has lived here for a while.

aaahh, it is the hot season again !!
