BANGKOK, 13 April 2015 (NNT) - The Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee has assured that no council or committee set up after the latest coup is intended to hold on to power after the reform.

CDC Chairman Borwornsak Uwanno said that all 315 sections in the first draft of the new Constitution are now ready for review although they are not really complete until after the secretary-general of the Council of State finishes the verification of all details.

Mr. Borwornsak said that the completion of the checking of the first draft charter is set on April 17 while the public release is scheduled on April 27.

He stated that what the public will learn from the draft charter is the intents of the new Constitution, which include the empowering of the people, clean politics, social justice and peace.

The CDC Chairman also said that the duties of the National Reform Council and the CDC that will last until the first meeting of the House of Representatives under the new charter are not an attempt to stay in power but to keep the continuation of all works.

He added that there remains no signal from anyone that any of the Five Rivers, which are the NRC, the CDC, the National Legislative Assembly, the Cabinet and the National Council for Peace and Order, is planning to stay in office beyond the agreed-upon timeframe.
