Dermatologist needed in Bangkok, skin infection

Hi there,

I have been reading many posts about dermatologists on this forum and got several name of good practitioners, but it seems that dermatologist tend to specialize. That's why I create a new thread, to find the right doctor for my specific problem.

I have some kind of acne like issue on my cheek, it first started with a couple of pimples that would come and go, and as it was not evolving I didn't took too much attention to it. But over the last year it have been evolving a lot and half of my cheek looks reddish. I have tried many lotions, antibiotics, antiseptic soaps and so one, without more results than stopping the itchiness. The pimples are still expanding now, they just don't break out that much anymore.

A dermatologist I consulted back in France told me that it could be streptococcus or staphylococcus, and that it looked infectious. However, I tried two different treatments with him, but none of them worked.

So if anyone could recommend a good dermatologist in Bangkok who would specialized in this kind of issues and would be able to help me with my skin condition, I would be really thankful. I have attached a picture of how it looks like.

Thank you in advance,

Max

Thanks for your advice fforest1, I have been washing the infected area with Hydrex for the last month, which is a surgical soap. It is supposed to kill everything as well since it is a antiseptic and anti bacteria. But really didn't work for me, so not sure whether Dettol will work.

Have you used it for a similar problem?

Thank you very much Sheryl for your recommendation.

From what I read on the previous threads on the subject both are good practitioners but Dr. Parichart will be slightly less expensive, am I right?

Thanks again thumbsup.gif

Liquid Dettol is way stronger than any other antiseptics by a long shot ...I have knocked out many skin problems with it...Start out slow and use more if needed..

Success is not measured in hours but days with Dettol..

Also some times the problem might look a little worse before it looks better...

Hi Max2,

I had recently a similar skin irritation on my legs with itching. I used many different creams, which all where useless.

A German doctor treated me for scabies. I had to apply a special cream only one time. And now - after one week it is gone and healing. The name of the creme is: Permethrin-biomo 5%.

Maybe your problem is different, because it is no itching.

Can you update us about your progress?

Scabies has a very characteristic appearance, itches like h#$^, and the cheek would be an odd location for it. I think OP's problem is something else.

So, it's been some time but here is a little update on my skin condition.

I went to Saint-Louis hospital and saw Dr. Parichart. She said it was some kind of acne, but also said that it was weird I only had on one cheek. Anyway, she gave me a treatment of antibiotics morning and evening + Skinoren cream to apply also morning and night time. It soothed the infected area within just a few days and it got better with time.

After 2 weeks of treatment, we reduced to 1 pill of antibiotics per day for another 3 weeks. I'm now at the end of the treatment. The skin is still a bit reddish and didn't seem to improve much recently, but it's not coming off again, which is a great improvement.

The doctor said it might need time to cure, since I had this for long time. So I am stopping the antibiotics now and just continuing the cream, let's see how it goes. Hopefully it will keep improving in the long term.

Thanks everybody for your help and especially Sheryl. Dr. Parichart was spot on with my skin problem and St-Louis is not too expensive compared to other hospitals, great recommendation.
