fishhooks Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Just wondering if any member has recently completed this process or is part way there. My Thai Wife and I, Australian Citizen, started this process earlier this year at VFS in Bangkok for her young 12 year old son to join us and settle in Australia. He presently lives with wife's parents. All documentation for the process to begin was correct on application in January, whilst we were in Bangkok. Wife is an Australian Resident, we have been married for some years and she has a good job here, which would be difficult for her to get leave from at present. We have a Case Officer at VFS and appears all matters have been fine to date and they now require "National Police Checks" in Australia for my wife and I, which I'm about to forward applications for, plus a Thai Police Check in Thailand for me, also about to do. No concerns with this, but, wondering if completing the application from here in Australia with regard to the outstanding checks seems (to me) to be a little complex and possibly may take quite some time to complete. I'm mainly looking for advice from perhaps others who may have been in this situation recently as to whether the completion of this application is fairly straight forward, requiring us just to do a quick trip back to Thailand to arrange for the boy to accompany us back here. Or if the final stages of this application is difficult to complete from off-shore? Is there a reliable agency which some may have experience with, who handles these type of matters? I'm just a little concerned that my wife's parents would not have the experience to complete what still needs to be done.
Surin13 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) You post is a little confusing. You don't have a case office at VFS as they don't do this. Your case officer will be working for immigration at the embassy and have nothing to do with VFS. When you submitted your application you should really have submitted all the required information at the time except for the police and medical. What other information are you concerned about? The case officer will request further information if need, so best wait to hear from them. Completely the application offshore shouldn't add that much time, only mailing time, which shouldn't be much. Your case officer may accept scanned copies of the information needed to continue to process the application until the mailed copies arrive. So ask them. Edited May 5, 2015 by Surin13
fishhooks Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) Okay, thanks for that, looks like I've had some of the procedures out of order. Working on this from afar a tad confusing for the uninitiated! Edited May 5, 2015 by fishhooks
fishhooks Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the reply...Just having some difficulty understanding some of the questions on the Thai Police Clearance Certificate application. Some of the "Thai/English" translations and questions on the second page of the application are somewhat hard to understand! Edited May 18, 2015 by fishhooks
Surin13 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 If you are having problems with the form call the Embassy in Canberra for assistance. Otherwise this may help http://canberra.thaiembassy.org/doc/info/070514policeclearance.pdf
