Sending + Recording Smart phone video on an Android tablet , bluetooth or ?

Featured Replies

Hi

Just to make it simple , I want to use my old Android smart phone as a security camera at the front gate and send the video to an Android Tablet.

If there is something interesting to record I would like to press a "button" on the screen to record what is happening,

Most of the apps I have seen will trigger recording with motion , that is nice but not what I need for this application ,

And can I send the video by blue tooth and how much range does that have ?

Any Apps you have tried and like ?

Thanks for your help

Suggestion, there are apps that are used for "dash cams" that record on a loop every 5-10 minutes, then you can send that recording at anytime via bluetooth to wherever you need.

According to Wikipedia, "Officially Class 3 radios have a range of up to 1 metre (3 ft), Class 2, most commonly found in mobile devices, 10 metres (33 ft), and Class 1, primarily for industrial use cases,100 metres (300 ft). Bluetooth Marketing qualifies that Class 1 range is in most cases 20–30 metres (66–98 ft), and Class 2 range 5–10 metres (16–33 ft)."

Might be better off utilizing a WiFi connection.

Also, try googling, "turn spare mobile phone into spy camera"

Hi

I just got my new ASUS fonepad today off ebay ,

I turned on bluetooth and also turned on the bluetooth on the smartphone

But they do not see each other :(

What do I need to do to make them see each other ?

then I can try and get the smart phones camera to show up on the Tablets screen :)

thanks again

Just an observation, if you have the camera on permanently on the phone, and then intend to try to stream video from the phone to your tablet, not only (as far as I know is that impossible) but you will burn through the battery out on the phone rapidly.

You can send files via Bluetooth, but (afaik) you cant stream it live to another device.
