Stringed Instriments

On a recent trip through Chiang Mai we looked around the Arcade bus station for a stringed instriment shop that was there a year ago.

It was nowhere to be found. It had a reasonable selection of violins, violas, cellos, standup basses, and of course all the accessories to go along with them.

Bows, loose bow hair bridges tailpieces, the whole works for repair & replacement. If anyone knows where they went We would be grateful for the information.

Info on any other well equiped stringed instriment shop with repair facilities & or parts would also be useful.

Thanks in advance

Be careful with some of the cheap instruments made here. They don't stay in tune, are hard to play and some don't sound great. My friend bought a cheap banjo. Impossible to get it in tune and the action was so high you could fly a helicopter in there! When playing it, you could almost see the tuner knobs moving. They just didn't hold.
