Hello,

I was wondering if any TV member has any recent experience in getting Non-O (Single or Multiple) from London embassy based on having Thai child - and not being married? (I am not retirement age)

I am still together with my Thai G/f though and we are not married. I recently obtained court papers declaring I am the legal parent of our baby (2 years old) in Bangkok.

I would be sending this application through the post and believe that most if not all the other embassies now don't deal with Non-O's through postal services with some not giving Non-Os based on having Thai child (have to be married).

I did phone the London Embassy and they said that I needed proof for this reason but Im not sure if the lady understood what papers I was referring to when I told her I had been through the courts to get the 'Legal' papers to prove I was the father.

Any advice greatly appreciated and I should also say that I know I can receive tourist visas no problem but it is the Non-O I am after as I would extend this for 1 year in Bangkok at a later date. (I did get one last year from Laos but while I am currently in UK it is easier to get here)

Many Thanks

You should just make the application.

If the "papers" are in order you will receive the visa.

You have the option of lodging your application in person at the Thai embassy .

You can get a multiple entry non-o but you will need to include copies of the legitimization documents from the Amphoe. You have to complete the legitimization at the Amphoe after the court makes its order.

You will need copies for your child's hours book registry or they will not do the visa.

Thanks Joe. I have decided to pay the extra and travel to London to apply in person. Hopefully if like you say I can get a Multi-O, then it will have been worth the travel and expense. I have the legitimization from the Amphoe (original) and also a copy of the baby's house book as well as bringing the child's mother with me and her ID card etc. Hopefully we should at very least get a Single O......

I tried doing the exact same thing, sent all my docs in with proof of custody, birth certificates, passports, bank details etc etc and was told (again) that

I could only get the tourist visa and then change the type of visa to a Non Imm O Child visa once in Thailand. They will not give you one in London (or any Thai consulate now) unless you show a marriage certificate.

Yours case is a little different because you are divorced.

The OP should at least try to get his. Perhaps things have changed since you tried to get yours.
