Angor Wat is certainly up there with best - although AW is really a 'community' rather than just one building.

I have only managed to see 6 on that list.

I've seen 10 of those. Angkor is the most impressive ancient monument, hands down.

I can't say I agree with all on that list. There is a lot missing. Borobodur in Indonesia? Petra in Jordan? The pyramids?

The hanging gardens of Basildon*..........................coffee1.gif

**Sorry just an English only pun

Yes Angkor would defiantly rate as one of the best experiences I have had----& its still relatively cheap (take a tour package, there are some great ones around) ---if your living in Thailand----your so close you really should see it.

I'm missing 4. Hard to argue with Angkor Wat being at the top. Though I think a lot depends on what you like. It is an amazing site!! Can't wait to go back again.

I think there are a few that should be in this list. Pyramids and Petra come to mind.

16 down, 9 to go from the list. Although I personally wouldn't have Angkor Wat as #1, as magnificent as it is. I realise it's very subjective based on your experiences and outlook. I would have difficulty having to pick a #1 as so many places I have been fortunate enough to visit and experience, still resonate with me as being magnificent and worthy of being #1 in their own right.

i got 13

think for sure Angkor is one of the top five

but

way not the Pyramids?

The Acropolis

Hoover dam

Bagan

Washington Mounment

Big Ben

Hard to narrow it down i guess

Let's not forget that this list is calculated by the most visited places,

but due to security issues places like Egypt and Isreal are not regarded

safe enough for tourist's to visit.

The old city in Jerusalem should also be in the list with the

Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Temple Mount, Western Wall

and Dome of the Rock.

Also the Acropolis and Olympia in Greece should be in there as well.

Although not visually spectacular, the Valley of the Kings is IMO amazing simply because of what is contained within it.

Agree with the rest.

12/25.

Angkor Wat would be the best of those I have visited, but I have yet to make it up to Machu Picchu and I think that would top it for me.

So many places, so little time...

I will say this about Angkor, I was lucky enough to have visited it and the surrounding temples around '97 I think. This was long before mass tourism got going there and I think the sheer lack of tourists helped me to appreciate in a way I would probably not be able to do today. Not been back since, wonder what I would think now ?

Go quick, Chines package tourists are already making it a much-reduced experience (without clever strategies about where to go when). If the experience declines at it's present rate it will be an absolutely appalling experience in 5 years time.

I would certainly try to avoid 'peak season' - those 2m visitors are spread evenly at 40,000 per week!

No guarantee, of course, you can encounter a group 40 Koreans/Chinese at any time!

I would also try and avoid in the hot season.

11 out of 25 & agree with the comments that there are some notable sites/sights missing from the list, Angkor Wat would be my #1 though, even if these were included.

To the OP

If you think that this Tripadvisor table is free of manipulation, than go and visit all the recommended places. The name of tripadvisor should open your brain.

Although there are a lot of world class landmarks registered it's a completely unrealistic (=manipulated) table.

Missing Chinese and Russian landmarks makes you already aware of something being manipulated. Only 1 example: China, the most populous country in the world, is not represented by the forbidden city, Bejing. But of course, all the Chinese didn't book by tripadvisor. If a publicised table depends on booking by this travel agency, then ..... forget it.

Some forgotten hot spots already have a been mentioned.

But 10 Chinese tourist attarctions - as in the following youtube - probably have more visitors than some of those shown in your table.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHNnbFD0Di4

Missing, too - among many others

China - Old Lijiang in Yunnan

Russia - Kremlin

Rome - Collosseum

Paris - Louvre + Place de l'Étoile + Monmartre

Thailand - Wat Phra Keo

Vietnam - Hue + Hoi An

Nepal (before earth quake) - Kathmandu, Himalaya Mountains

Spain - Barcelona Cathedral + Cordoba with it's Islamic history, + Madrid, Prado, Escorial

Greece - island Santorin

Philippines - chocolate hills + Mount Mayon (activ vulcano)

Vienna - dome + old castle

Brasil - Rio de Janero

USA - Colorado river, Rocky Mountains + + +++++

So, you're trying to tell me.........the OP is a manipulating fraud for posting a list of top tourist destinations.........then you go and post a list of top tourist destinations?

Am I missing something?

PS: Aside from Nepal, I wouldn't dream of going to any one of your recommendations, and those that I have been to aren't worth mentioning, IMO......but then again, this is all kind of subjective isn't it?
