Draining pipe and water pumps placed on Sukhumvit rd to relieve flood crisis

BANGKOK, 16 June 2015 (NNT)-Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumband Boripatra has said keeping roads around Asoke intersection dry on a rainy day would be difficult as Sukhumvit is located in a low-lying area.

According to the Bangkok governor, the Office of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will be installing a draining pipe and improving the road surface in an attempt to alleviate the flooding problem.

He added that it would be difficult to build a giant tunnel as there are underground pipes and telephone cables beneath the roads. It will also take a while for the water to be drained into the nearest canal called Khlong Paisingtoh.

The draining pipe, which has a diameter of 60 centimeters, will be placed along the road to drain the flood water with the help of two water pumps. The entire mission is expected to be completed today.

The Bangkok Governor said the move will effectively help relieve the flood crisis in Bangkok. He further stated that the BMA will also quickly look into problems occurring elsewhere in Bangkok.

You know you should really give they guy a break. I challenge any city in any country to deal with as much water in such a short period of time. Parts of Texas including Houston are still drying out and another storm is on the way looking to drop 300ml of water in a period of a day or so. As for here, this is all politics.

Its not just the politics. He makes it worse with such brilliant sound bites like he needs weather angels.

But for it to be fixable in a day and yet still be a problem is bewildering.

And isnt all of Bangkok low-laying?
