Giving birth in Pattaya or? Recommendation / cost .No insur.

My nephew and nieces were born at the public district hospital, never a problem. If you don't have insurance I would check out the local public hospital, the cost will be much lower.

Agree. Even if you can afford the cost of the delivery package at a private hospital you will not be able to afford the costs associated with treating complications should they arise.

Your best bets are one of these:

Chonburi provinicial hospital (actually a regional hospital so will have a Newborn ICU, something to consider)

Red Cross Hospital in Sri racha (Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital)

Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital in Sattahip

While the new Pattaya City hospital may be the most convenient, it does not have the capacity to manage complications in the mother or newborn and would have to refer, which can lead to loss of valuable time. In terms purely of safety it is better to deliver in a higher level facility. Won't matter if all goes normally but will matter a lot if there are problems.

Be forewarned that in all these places, there will be negligible English spoken by the nurses and admin staff, and also that father will not be allowed in the delivery room. The doctor will speak at least some English.

If your wife does not speak Thai well, worth trying to arrange for a woman who does to accompany her through labor and delivery as it can be quite scary to not be able to communicate when one is in labor/delivering. May need to clear this in advance with the doctor for the delivery room part.

Just keep this in mind if your wife is going to give birth to a baby in gov hospital the doctor won't let the husband/father in the labour/delivery room. You don't wanna miss it. Always ask first!

Here's my case study about cost of giving birth!!

I gave birth to my baby in BNH. The doctor spoke perfect English.

I started from made an appointment from Chula hospital by my friend (the reason I started there because we can choose the doctor) then he sent me to the clinic where he worked in Q House Lumpini.

I had all the checking scans in there but when it's about one month to the due date the doctor would ask you "Which hospital you want to give birth to the baby?"

We've got 3 hospitals in the list in our area and where the doctor worked as well, of course.

1. Bumrungrad

2.BNH

3.Chula.

Chula won't allow the father/husband in the labour/delivery room so we ticked it off the list.

When you decided already you just informed the doctor.

My husband and I went to the hospital to book the package/room by ourselves.

All we had to do was told the accountant the name of the doctor and the due date.

The hospital didn't want your money the day you booked the package we didn't have to pay anything not even deposit not one baht because there will be much more when everything's done. When we left the hospital we've got the bill three times more expensive than it said on the package we picked.

Why?

We picked natural birth but then I had to change to C- Section because I couldn't do the natural birth but earlier I went through the procedure for natural birth from 6 am-6 pm. (Time is money, right?)

Here's the real pressure!

The doctor/the hospital won't do C-Section after 9 pm in case something wrong happened so I had no choices basically. I had 3 hours left NO WAY!

I couldn't do that!

Surprisingly when I changed to C-Section they actually had their team of different kinds of doctors( that I couldn't write or pronouce properly) waited for me.

They were there the whole time I should say.

It said on the paper if I change to C-Section it would cost me about three times more expensive. They have me signed the paper before they started doing their jobs in the morning.

Everything's done in about 20 minutes.

I was awake the whole time I could hear everything just could't see what they did behind the curtain.

Exciting moment really!!!

But just wasted 12 ++ hours!!!! and 80k extra.

They did charge us about three times expensive like it said on the paper.

They didn't lie by the way. #lol

My husband said the service was flawless.

Thank god I was not the one who paid the bill.

This happened almost seven years ago.

Sorry I'm not good at writing something in English.
