Argentine judge orders body of racing star Fangio exhumed

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — The body of the late Formula 1 star Juan Manuel Fangio has been exhumed by orders of an Argentina judge for testing to determine paternity claims brought by two men who believe they are his sons.

The remains of Fangio, who died in 1995, were removed from a family crypt Friday and taken to a morgue in his hometown of Balcarce for extraction of DNA samples. Results are expected to be known in one to two months.

Fangio, who won five world titles between 1951 and 1957, was never married and did not recognize having any children during his life. But a suit brought by Oscar Espinosa claims his mother had a relationship with Fangio in the 1950s. Another man, Ruben Vazquez, also claims that he is Fangio's biological son.

Vazquez was present Friday for the exhumation of the body.

"For reasons of destiny, we only saw each other one time. He knew I was his son; I didn't learn of it until later," Vazquez told Justicia, a national news agency of the Ministry of Justice. "I am sure of my identity.

So what's in it for these two men?

Let me guess... money?

2 months for DNA results? Koh Tao headman's son's DNA took a few days to "prove" it wasn't him. Thailand must be so much more medically and scientifically advanced than Argentina.whistling.gif

Sure......Fangio was the sole representant and owner of the Mercedes Benz dealerships in Argentina for the last 60 years......and most of trucks and buses in Argentina are Mercedes Benz. Even the first taxis in Argentina in the 50's were new MB exported for that use.. Now...those cars are collector pieces. After the war, Argentina was the richest country in South America and very European. Still be called the Paris of South America.

During his youth and racing career, Fangio spend great part of his life in Italy, where he was an Idol....Not will be a surprise if he had kids there too....
