70th Anniversary of VJ Day

Featured Replies

Today marks the 70th Anniversary of the end of the second World War, when Japan finally surrendered. Let us take time today to remember all those died here in Thailand, whether Allied POWs, Asian workers, or Japanese forces. War is an abomination for all who are involved.

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."

We will remember them

The Queen is leading events to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ Day, when Japan surrendered and World War Two ended.

She and the Duke of Edinburgh joined the prime minister and former prisoners of war at a remembrance service at St Martin-in-the-Fields church in London

My Grandfather fought in Europe and one thing he always said is that he was thankful to being sent there rather than the hell of the Pacific........
