Police chief says bomb aimed to discredit govt

BANGKOK: -- Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Somyot Pumpanmuang reiterated Friday that the bomb at the Erawan shrine was not linked to international terrorists but it was aimed to discredit the government.

Min of Science gears up for 3-region innovation fair

BANGKOK, 21 August 2015 (NNT) – The Ministry of Science and Technology will be holding a major innovation fair to showcase innovations and masterpieces of three regions in a move to promote technology transfer for commercial purposes.

Science and Technology Minister Pichet Durongkaveroj said the Science Park Promotion Agency and Regional Science Parks would co-organize the three-region exhibition. The event will take place in the North, Northeast and South during August-October.

In the North, the fair will be held at Chiangmai Hall, Central Airport Plaza, in Chiangmai between August 29 and 30. The highlights include model technologies for rice moisture reduction and pest control.

In the Northeast, the exhibition will be held at Suranaree University of Technology during September 17-18. Must-see innovations include a comprehensive waste management system and the new chicken breeds developed from the native species.

Down South, the event will take place at Hatyai Hall, Central Festival Hatyai in Songkhla Province between October 30 and 31. Rubber and halal food processing technologies and medical innovations will be the focal points.

The Ministry of Science and Technology hopes that the three-region fair will attract more than a thousand private operators, academics, students and general visitors in each region.

Home-alone 9 year old escapes kitchen fire at East Pattaya house

PATTAYA: -- A 9 year old boy was left alone in his Mother’s home and was lucky to escape with his life after a fire took-hold in the kitchen, which is located next to the young boy’s bedroom, where he was sleeping at the time.
