Old Fool
I'm trying to decide how long I should stay in March. Is it a lot quieter than Phuket? Are there many fun bars?
angsta
Krabi is a province, do you mean Krabi town? That isn't really a party town unless it's changed out of sight in the last few years. Where in Krabi?
Old Fool
I guess I mean Ao Nang. That's probably where I'm going.
craigt3365
I've not been for a few years, but there was only one street that had a few bars up and down it, running off the main beach road. There are a few hotels with bars, and a couple of other places. But IMHO, not a place to go if you want to party.

Blackfox
A paradise for climbers and jumpers, not for partying.
Lancashirelad
Au Nang is very pleasant. Popular with European young families. A great place to base if you like to go sailing out around the islands. Be aware that climbing in & out of long tails boats requires some effort, but is well worth it as the scenery is spectacular. There are 2 small errrr......."entertainment" bar areas and a few normal bars have some pretty good live music.
ChangMaiSausage
Depends on your definition of a party? one mans party may be another mans nightmare... Ao Nang beers bars a few hotel bars not much else. Better off travelling to Phuket or Samui or even better stay in Bangkok
Rykbanlor
Grim, and I live here. Aonang has 1 grim girly soi which I hope is not your idea of a party. It has a couple of busy bars with generally decent live bands (boogie/roots rock) but if you're like me, live music, in its sheer mass availability here, is pretty boring, particularly if thats all there is night in night out. There is also a courtyard of bar/clubs playing really shitty music mix of pophits/shitty trance etc. I capitalise on this as I am wanting to live quietly and save money (to add components to my music production/DJ setup which given i live somewhere with no music scene populated with bars that play highly unadventurous generic music and I play old school hiphop and 70s funk/soul, makes for a rich irony). Enjoy your holiday
MeHere
Ao Nang is a quiet town, a bit family friendly... there's a few pubs around that get hopping, but not a lot of sexy girls on the prowl or sex industry (at least out in the open) that can put the icing on the cake on those big party nights if you get to fvcked up to work at picking up chicks LOL
jacksam
There is nothing there to party. It is OK place to take gf. Has couple of nice live music. One small soi of second rate bars. Not even open till say after 4. Its for snorkeling , islands etc. I booked a couple of trips there ONLY because the flights were so cheap. I don't like the joint. fred Kubasa
Why roam about when, here in Thailand, you can make your own party - anywhere you and your money reside !
mick01827
I was in ao nang in December/January, no party scene, mostly families/couples and lots of restaurants and pretty expensive, I went to one shop and they didn't even sell alcohol because they were muslim, could hear the chanting at the mosque in the morning and through out the day, felt like I was in Turkey, the only plus point were the beaches, don't think I'd ever return. slipperylobster
This is really sad...nobody wants to go because no bars/girls.....like Phuket and Pattaya. What happened to just enjoying a place for what it is, instead of staring at a gogo girl and drinking until you pass out?

What happened to just enjoying a place for what it is, instead of staring at a gogo girl and drinking until you pass out? People have liked going out to listen to decent music, to dance and to socialise as far back as history stretches, 'party scene' doesn't necessarily mean letching at bar girls whilst sitting down on a bar stool getting drunk. In either case however, Ao Nang / Krabi is not the place for it. Edited September 7, 2015 by rwdrwdrwd

What happened to just enjoying a place for what it is, instead of staring at a gogo girl and drinking until you pass out? That may be a good question, but the OP wanted to know about fun bars. Unless he is referring to comedy clubs and since he is most apparently a tourist; I'll wager he wants girly bars. Some people do come to Thailand for the girls you know. They are not all like us; wanting temples, floating markets, elephant rides and squat toilets.
smotherb
I think it depends on what you want. Ao Nang, is quiet and March will still be the off-season. There are bars; specifically the RCA bar soi, does have some girlie bars. There are also other bars on the main street all through town. Around the corner at Center Point on the beach road are a few more; some open late. Since it is a family oriented resort town, there are also many massage parlors catering to the husbands out shopping or having a beer during the day. Also one of my favorite burger joints in Thailand, TJ Sports Pub, next to McDonald's across the street from Soi RCA.

Serveral times I tried to mention the serenity and beauty of squatting properly..but I just could not get it out.
