Those images are excellent & worthy of pinning @ the top of the page smile.png

Typical Samui, no knowledge of English labellling, not only is there NO YACHT CLUB if they are Thai they would be aware that unless they have the authority of the RTN and YRAT (Yacht Racing Association of Thailand) you cannot label yourself a yacht club. No sponsorship for the Samui Regatta, no active sailing activity, a complete phony name to suck the tourists in. Just call it Thong Takian which is the local and correct name, but thanks for the live cams, all you need now is a few yachts in the foreground for authenticity. Samui becoming Island of Scams !

I agree with Crusty on this one. Why name a place Samui Yacht Club, when it has 0 to do with sailing or any water sport for that matter.

As to the name Tradewinds; don't see the comparison with a name as yacht club, except for trying to make it personal. Can you point out a few Tradewinds named business operating on Samui by the way. I only know/knew of one.

Maybe the ex? owner is a bit grumpy at times, but at least he had sailboats for rent at the place, and was involved with many sailing initiatives on Samui. Unlike the 'Yacht Club'.

Wow... crusty by name, crusty by nature.... I can now see why you were attacked in Lamai a while back.

What a lame and non sensible response ! Try and answer the reasons I posted or is that beyond you ?

Wouldn't it have been easier to open a new thread condemning the yacht-free yacht club instead of pissing all over this one?

If that's your gripe. why not name the correct location of the webcam as Thong Thakian as marked on all navigation charts in the first place ?

nothing personal at all, just by doing a trademark search on nautical names I didn't find any restrictions on the names. As for Yacht Club, another restaurant in Bang Po has the name or similar, as for tradewind or tradewinds I know of 2 properties with this name.

Well they can't be paying their taxes as the revenue department only permits one property per name.

I can't see why bickering over a name of a place should start now, the "Yacht Club" as it is called has been there for years.....coffee1.gif

Samui Web Cam is quite useful and shows a number of other locations thumbsup.gif
