The Chinese are coming!

Featured Replies

Saw the following in the Bangkok Post:

"During China's National Day celebrations, Chinese have a long 10-day holiday, from Oct 1 to Oct 10. During this period, 200,000-350,000 Chinese tourists were expected to visit Thailand..."

Most are expected in Chiang Mai and Phuket.

Good time to do a visa run?

guess u have not been to phuket recently

they already arrived :-)

and Chiang Mai!!

and Bangkok

Good time to go on a holiday to somewhere with fewer Chinese tourists!

How about Myanmar? Not so many Chinese tourists there yet.

Or Malaysia? Quite a few there, but suprisingly far fewer than Thailand, despite the fact that the large ethnic Chinese population there can speak Chinese and it would be a lot easier for Chinese tourists to communicate with the locals there than in Thailand.

Or even Australia? Sure, there are plenty of Chinese tourists there too, but they tend to be the more moneyed ones, not the low class 0 Yuan cheap charlies that come on tours to Thailand.

Can't be any worse than some of the cheap charlie farangs I see around town.
