Illegal Workers and Prisoners Sent Back from THA to CAM

Khmer Times/Tin Sokhavuth

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – According to the National Police, 74 illegal Cambodian workers in Thailand agreed to return to the Kingdom through the Chambok border entry in Malay district, Banteay Meanchey province, on Saturday.

They agreed to come back to Cambodia after Thai police found that none of them had work permits allowing them to stay in Thailand. Thai companies hired the Cambodian workers without requiring a work permit, but when the police showed up, the employers told them to go back to Cambodia, get the correct travel documents and come back.

According to a press release from the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, Thai authorities will deliver six Cambodian prisoners to Cambodian authorities on October 22 via the international border exit at Poi Pet.

Thai companies hired the Cambodian workers without requiring a work permit.....
