You can't. You do however come across porn where a stylistic effort has been made to make the girl look young and child-like.

If the actress is actually underage is very difficult to say. Mostly she would not be underage would be my guess, but that's just a guess.

But of course I suspect some of you are expert at this and can spot an underage Thai girl in a crowed bar from 15 meters away.

Not from 15 meters away, but when right next to them and talking to them I'm remarkably good at it. It's actually one of many skills that I have but can't be monetized. :/

But none of this shows anything except proof that these "hotels" you go to have to ID because there is an underage problem. If there was no underage problem they wouldn't be IDing the working girls. (I'm taking your word that they're IDing every girl that comes through the doors though I find that hilarious).

He's explained that several times but I guess you need some more time to read. I'll try: Hotels check ID in case of trouble, or to prevent it. It reduces issues with theft, or if trouble occurs because everyone is drunk or just silly then they have some recourse to sort things out. This may be less of an issue in the five star hotels you're more familiar with, though I bet even there sometimes a judgment call is made and some action taken, not necessarily carding in advance.

Anyway your wife (or your wife's cousin, that wasn't 100% clear) manages a five star hotel: while not a daily/weekly occurrence, I bet it's at least a yearly occurrence for a guest to come back with one or two ladyboys, after way too many drinks. Now what do they do? At the very least they'd make it known to the guests that they're on camera and/or card them before or after, or call up to the room to make sure everything is okay before letting the guests leave, wouldn't you think? Or they might want to discourage or prevent that whole display in their respectable hotel and have a word with the guest. Then again it is Pattaya, so maybe different rules apply.

While I agree on the inappropriate nature of sex with underage women, it is along way from pedophilia.

Technically pedophilia is sex with pre-pubescent children (younger than 13 or so). Underage in Thailand means under 18. However, someone having sex with a 16 or 17 year old is not a pedophile, but is breaking the law. I believe Thai law has stronger and stronger punishments the younger someone is.

There's the formula bandied about regarding appropriate ages for someone. Should not be younger than you more than 1/2 your age plus 7.

However, in my eyes if an 18 or over year old wants to date a 70 year old, legally they are both in the clear and it should be allowed, however inappropriate it may seem to anyone else. You are veering away from law and into morality, the formal being quite literal and the latter being highly subjective.

They catch the poor women with no ID from Burma and take a look at their teeth and say they are underage. Good idea except you can't tell age accurately by looking at teeth. If one could we could check out the smiles on the porn actresses to find out if the porn was legal or not. You can tell by my smile on the left there, that I'm old enough to be talking about this stuff.
