Three Lumpini police officers removed for failing to find bombing suspect's footages

The fact that police have been transferred for not doing their jobs is significant.

Yet we never hear later what happens to the countless 1,000s who have been transferred to inactive posts over the years. I wonder if there is an actual law stating they have to do this or did someone in the distant past dream up this so called punishment as a convenient way to deflect criticism of not doing anything.

The term, "transferred to an inactive post" is usually a euphemism for about to be got rid of very shortly.

According to who?

Where are these `facts` from?

The business world in the UK and Europe and much of the rest of the world no doubt!

Elsewhere, being transferred to a certain cost centre or to an inactive post means a person is on their way out/gardening leave/etc although in Thailand it often means something less harsh and is merely a loss of face which may or may not lead to resignation.

I suspect the original purpose was to get a suspected wrongdoer away from his post so that evidence could be gathered without him tampering with it. They don't arrest him until the full case has been made; until then he has to report for duty, get paid but has no authority. As I said this may have been the original purpose but now its probably used as a 'face' punishment as much as anything else - it certainly doesn't seem to work!

What actually does inactive post mean? Do they still get paid?

Probably all as you say but note that it is only for 30 days. That is the first time i have noticed at time attached to the sentence. Interesting that 3 Lt Col"s didn't know or care how to find all the cameras in their area. Presumably their boss agrees with that as well. Perhaps being out selling tickets to the secret policeman's ball to help pay for their promotions was more important. Would this ever have happened under Thaksin or his sister? Incremental improvement but I certainly think that the really big bosses boot toe could be felt a little firmer, a lot more often and much more widely. The message must be seen that there really is a new sheriff in town, sort-of.

However, police later found footages at a toilet in the Lumpini park which...

They found footage in the toilet or they found footage of the bomber at the toilet, the latter I believe, but TIT.

This whole story belongs in the toilet.

I have had breakfast/brunch . I have done the ronree/laundry I have had my first coffee and smoke of the day. Now I have had my first larf ! " This whole story belongs in the toilet " Cheers for that.

You can say anything about the Thai Police...but its have the bombers in jail and that may avoided more criminal acts..... By my understand, many more serious terrorist crimes in the world, and in Western countries, never were resolved... and the perpetrators still at large.

By the way...How many CCTV cameras were working outside the Pentagon in 9/11?

Not many that were aimed at the sky!

`The business world in the UK and Europe and much of the rest of the world`

But we are not in the western world or the rest of the world are we? We are in Thailand and what appears or is said is completely different to what actually happens here most of the time.

Personally, I don`t see the 30 day posting as much of a punishment. More of a seeing to be doing something exercise and as you said yourself, `in Thailand it often means something less harsh.` Exactly that.

The NACC should start checking the family of these 3 police officers' assets for the past few months. Should be able to find something.

Any of this footage been released to the public?

It does exist doesn't it?

We will never know as it will remain hidden in the arcane environment of the Military court.

Just a thought to end my day. If I was Thai and wanted to become a BIB would I get a form to fill in asking what position in the force would I like and if so how much would they pay if I applied for an inactive post ?

These are CCTV stills from Khaosod on 25/09/15 showing the suspect, Adem Kharadak on 17/08/15, the day of the bombing. Before he entered the toilet in Lumpini Park it's alleged he wore a yellow tee shirt and on leaving he had exchanged it for a grey one and had also discarded his wig and glasses.

Maybe it was difficult to find footage, because so many of the

cameras did not work and those that did ,the video was of very

poor quality.

Transferred for 30 days.... makes it rather "insignificant"

What kind of real training do the police Thai police have ?

They are so incompetent its not funny anymore.

Basic commonsense and policing skills are lacking.

On Thai Visa I have read many stories of the them paying money to pass entrance exams and even larger amounts to become high ranking officers yet I am not certain whether they are true or not,

The whole Thai Police organisation needs an urgent overhaul.

Three incompetent BIB morons removed from Lumpini PD, so what?
