Zumo 390LM - where to buy in BKK? Other recommendations?

Featured Replies

I am looking to buy a either

- Zumo 390LM or a

- Zumo 590LM

in Bangkok.

The goal: Drive to Chiang Mai with a Motorbike.

ZUMO website (http://www.garmin.co.th/products/ontheroad/) only offers the two year old inferior models (390 is top model there).

I assume because of Thai OS which i not need, even wish to avoid - I want the system in english.

1.

Does anyone can recommend a shop / dealer in Bangkok for ZUMO?

2.

Can any recommend a good reliable solution in English with updated maps? I would not mind the price if the system is worth it.

edit:

To specify my question. I did find the official distributor list (http://www.garmin.co.th/distributor/).

My question is aimed at experience and recommendation.

Thank you!

You could always try Eagle GPS though they are based in CM. They seem to have the Zumo you want in stock and will send it anywhere in Thailand by EMS post.

Gadgetrend is in BKK though I haven't used them in many years.

Alternatively there is the GPS Society in Silom who also have the Zumo in stock according to their webpage.

I hope that this is of some help to you.

Thx for the reply. Unfortunately they all sell the 390 / 590 (as the official site as well) which is over 2 years old by now and is not even sold in the west anymore for a while.

I would like to have the '390LM/590LM' versions which are sold in the west for quite some time by now.

My assumption was the the old 'not-LM' version were localized to Thai and that is the reason why there are still sold here. Since I want English anyway, I am aiming for the LM.

In case I have no chance of getting them here... Has anyone experience with the old version who can give a recommendation?

Hey foodieontour.

The official distributor of Garmin in Thailand does not offer LM for zumo series.

The zumos currently come only in English (so no worries for the Thai version).

The only two models available:

  1. zumo 390 - 24,500 THB
  2. zumo 590 - 27,900 THB

I believe the zumo 660 is already discontinued, but I guess you are not interested in that old model anyway.

I had the older zumo 350, and I was quite happy with it. It all depends what you expect from your GPS. Most of the units will do great job navigating from A to B. The newest models tend to work better (more sophisticated and efficient IT platform, receiver etc).

If you are coming here just for holiday, it would be wiser to buy the unit in your country (because of warranty and preloaded maps, as well as the "LM" ;) ), and purchase the map of Thailand from a local distributor.
Honestly, you don't need a GPS to get from BKK to ChM (the road is pretty good). It would be very useful though if you drive in BKK and plan to visit some places around ChM. Can't imagine any of my trips to BKK without a GPS. ;) Hope that helps. Safe trips.
