Cambodia tour

Featured Replies

Hello, anybody knows of reputable tour agency to Siem Reap .thank you

Good luck with that. Why not self-travel? Buy flights from airasia. Find a guest house or hotel on agoda that has good reviews. Accept their kind offer of free airport pick-up. Hire a tuktuk to take you round the temples for $12 per day (you'll need to haggle). Hire a guide at the temples if you want one (check his English skills before you decide). Walk to the market by the river to buy souvenirs (haggle again). Eat and drink around Pub Street in the evening. Take tuktuk back to the airport for $4. Job done (save $500).

Good suggestions from DEQ. I would add, buy a good guidebook for Angkor Wat before you go and carry it along. The local guides mean well but their descriptions are delivered by rote and not very interesting.

Most important: don't only concentrate on Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. There are fascinating sights and far less crowds deep into the complex and worth devoting a couple of days to exploring.

Thank you DEQ and dddave for the advice..wai2.gif

I add my thanks to Tamalps.

Since it appears that I may have to leave on a visa run anyway, I had thought either Siem Reap or Saigon might be a reasonable destination. This helps.

before u visit the temples go to the excellent Museum in town

buy a copy of "ancient Angkor" from one of the kids for $5-8

Head out to the temples after 4 pm and buy ur ticket for the next day ( $40 for 3 days) an get a sunset for free

u will never get a tuk tuk for less than $15

$12 for the "small circle" (the main temples), $15 for the bigger circle.

$15 for ALL day

pick up 5 am sunrise

drive around, back to hotel at 11 for a rest,

back to the temples at 3 for the sunset

Back to hotel

u will not get that for $12
