Non O at Embassy in Singapore

Featured Replies

Hi, first post here!!

Sure it's been asked before but can't find thread with specific answers.

I will apply to get a Non Imm O visa at the Singapore Embassy, I'm in Singapore so don't really want to fly somewhere else to apply.

I'm British, married to a Thai, married in the UK about five years ago. Now my questions.

1. On the Singapore Embassy website they say they want to see 400k Thai baht.

A) is that in my name or my wife's name?

B) if my name can this be in a overseas account or do I have to somehow open a Thai bank account and deposit 400k into that?

2. UK marriage certificate, do I need a Thai translation?

3. The letter from my Thai wife, is there anything that should be said here, or is this just some generic letter confirming our on going marriage and living arrangements?

Any other tips?

Thanks

1. Doesn't have to be in a Thai bank A/C.

UK A/C showing the equivalent of 400,000 THB.

Your name or joint names (your the applicant).

2. No translations required as long as documents are in Thai or English.

All documents: Documents in languages other than Thai or English have to be translated into either Thai or English and notarised by notary organs or relevant diplomatic/consular missions.

3. Letter from wife stating purpose of visit and invitation to Thailand.

Tip #1. Be prepared for the unexpected at the Singapore Embassy. They make up their own rules as they please. It is not unusual for them to vet applications before you can lodge them. A thai woman regularly checks applications while you are waiting in line. She is quite aggressive. She will tell you what extra documentation the Embassy wants even though you think you have it right. Make an allowance for an extra day to lodge your application to get what she demands, however trivial it seems. Speaking from experience here. I have seen many people thrown out of the Embassy before they can lodge an application due to this bitch.

And a copy of Thai spouse's ID card or passport might be useful as well.

1. If you are applying for a single entry non-o the 400k baht should not be needed.

If multiple entry the account should be in your name. An overseas account should be accepted.

2. No need for a translation since it is in English.

3. Just a basic letter requesting they issue you the visa.
