I really do feel better as the Thai police and immigration will, without a doubt, be more successful preventing the bad guys from entering Thailand than they have been in the past with those who decide to enter and or leaveThailand.

Just come back from Central Pattaya beach and felt really safe......not.

Entering the car park, single security guard, too busy picking his nose to even look at the driver, never mind check the car. Up on the entry to the 4th floor single security guard was 70 and not a day younger.

Again zero interest in checking anything or anyone.

Sitting duck comes to mind, and packed with tourists.

Isis hell bent on damaging a few cars parked in a lot not, damage a few hundred people yes so safe as houses can be if you seek shelter in a car park.

I think you miss the point, I was talking about the ease of access to a shopping center with hundreds of people inside, many foreigners........via the car park.

Step up security measures and these are? In other countries, trash cans are removed from busy areas due to bombs. Extra policemen patrolling the streets. Public transport police presence. Airports, armed police. Diplomatic or government complexes, police presence. Security guards given training and more power to help the police. Evacuation plans and drills for places of interest. Etc

The police have been ordered to carefully monitor those coming in or leaving the country in a bid to ensure safety.

Just think if that order hadn't been made! Police would have continued to carelessly monitoring people.

Of course it's not enough to monitor, but also to detect and apprehend. Maybe there will be another order covering those activities. wai2.gif

Should start by closely watching Aphichat Promjan!

Police forces the world over will now be on high alert, so it is appropriate for Thailand to do likewise (just don't overreact).

As most of the world mourns the senseless loss of life in Paris, we should also reflect on the consequences of racial and religious bigotry and intolerance.

Of course not. I am sure you already know that the Royal Thai Police require someone to make a specific complaint about a crime, provide them with a tip-off as to the whereabouts of the criminal, CCTV footage of the actual crime and at least one witness, a potential financial reward, and only then will they seek an "arrest warrant" from the court to go and do their job.

Is LoS calling the Paris nightmare acts of terrorism as they seem to have an aversion to using the word ?

As President Hollande says, this is an act of war.

One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. These aren't terrorists anymore but fighters engaged in a war to destroy other societies and replace them with their chosen religion and culture. They operate overtly and covertly and are very well organized and financed.

Time the Western World realized, it's in a war, not peacekeeping or looking for odd terrorist attacks anymore.

All in hand and underway in Thailand, it's just that they have forgotten to impliment it.

Especially the Immigration Bureau to carefully monitor those coming in or leaving the country,

Looks like more hoops for us to jump through and every foreigner is going to be treated as a potential terrorist. I wonder if we could have a, passed by quality control stamp, branded on our foreheads?
