LOEI: -- Treacherous conditions have caused a jack-knifing truck to career wildly into oncoming traffic on a slippery Thailand road.

Dashcam video shows a driver navigating through heavy rain on November 13 in the province of Loei.

Visibility is low on the winding road with dense mist rising from the bitumen and the vehicles windscreen wipers struggling to keep up with the battering rain.

Footage shows a B-Double truck abruptly veer into the oncoming lane and crash into a tree on the opposite side of the road

The trailer is flung in a wide arc towards the approaching traffic and the vehicle with the dash camera narrowly avoids a catastrophic collision.

However the momentum from the trailer whips the rear of the truck forward and it lurches into the bonnet of the vehicle which has screeched to a halt to avoid the crash.

It is not known if anyone involved in the crash was injured.

I am assuming a car was behind her. Otherwise why not reverse? If a truck was coming toward me like that and I was stationary, I would certainly slam it in reverse. She's lucky, very lucky.

No there is no brake failer there,it is a driver failer. In America we call these "wabble wagons" and and they are hard to control on wet and(in my country) snow packed roads,and obviouslyThis fool had no idea what would happen when you apply the brakes on a wet road.

I am looking at these pictures here of these trucks,and I am wondering if you are American,Canadian, or Aussie. I drove truck for 30 some odd years in America and even though I have seen my share of these kind of wrecks (knock on wood) I have never had one. This definitely driver err. So if you are so inclined let me know were I can get in touch with you,and I will do that.

In Australia this truck is njot a "B Double". B Doubles have two trailers.

This truck is a rigid with a dog trailer the common configuration in Thailand. I have never seen a B Double here.

They weren't stationary, they were part of the oncoming traffic. I would say they had slowed down, but the truck was travelling fast enough to slam into them.

No time to reverse.

Driver error 100%. Failure to operate his equipment safely in the prevailing conditions..... Heavy rain.

Sorry but the prevailing conditions where the weather. But for sure he was ignoring the road conditions we see it every week , mini buses , trucks and scooters , as someone said ' What would they do in snow ? '

When brakes fail on wagons the brakes come on , the air is to keep them off, so no air brakes go on, Sometimes it's like driving on ice if the weather is good and there has been a short down poor of rain , Driver education is the key, just dont give idiots a driving licence, I would say looking at this Video the wagons brakes came on first and the back trailer brakes were not adjusted properly. causing the trailer to push the wagon ,

We call these wagons,, wagon and drag, in the UK

The writer of this article should learn the difference between a rigid 6x4 with a super dog trailer and a B double

By the way a super dog has 3 axles

A dog trailer has 2 axles and a pup trailer has 1 axle

Poor road surface, inefficient drainage and theior is little in Thai road design to keep opposing traffic from coming into contact with each other.

You might also consider the roadworthiness of the vehicle - how about the loading and the tires? As there is little or no eforcement - when stopped the officers haven't a clue what to look for - it is no surprise that Thailand consistently fares poorly in road safety studies.

Unfortunately one can't see what happened to cause the truck to loses control....the title says "driver causes collision" this is clearly not deductabl from the video. What you can see is the almost total loss of adhesion by the truck and the huge amount of water lying on the road.
