My friend was robbed while traveling outside Thailand, she lost passport with visa and work permit. What does she need to do in order recover her visa? expatbrit Posted November 25, 2015 Share Posted November 25, 2015 A visa is lost and cannot be replaced. If your friend had an extension of stay there is a possibility of immigration restoring that. She needs to obtain a new passport or emergency travel document from her Embassy. She will most likely need a Police report detaling the loss. She had already reported to the police and will wait for the new passport to be issued. expatbrit Posted November 25, 2015 Share Posted November 25, 2015 She can obtain a tourist visa from a Thai Embassy/Consulate or enter the country using a visa exempt entry. Once in the country she should visit immigration with any evidence she has of once having an extension of stay. Details of her old passport would help. razer Posted November 26, 2015 Share Posted November 26, 2015 Be you tourist or expat, if you don't have photocopies of your documents you are not smart. Renewing documents is easier if you can prove you had them to begin with. It can be hassle to do this but weighed against the inconvenience in the worst case scenario, it's worth it. My friend does have copies of every documents, including backup copies at her lawyer's office in Bangkok. Her doubt is, if she enter Thailand again with a 30 days visa exemption, would she be able to recover her previous extension of stay at the Immigration Department, or she needs to obtain a proper visa prior to entering the Kingdom?
