Featured Replies

Hi For my next border run I plan to travel from Surin to Pakse stay 2 nights there then travel to Savannakhet by bus staying 2 nights Please can anyone tell me of good places to look at & good food in Pakse After leaving Savannakhet my mind is not made up yet either I do a return trip back to Pakse or come back into Thailand & travel back to Surin or travel over to Vientiane look around there for 3/4 days then get to Nong Khan & train it back to Surin Any tips would be most welcom Kindness Chook

Pakse is very small and can easily be explored on foot or rented bicycle. The temple is interesting but by far the nicest thing to do is sit at one of the many riverside bars/restaurants drinking Beer Lao. There are many good restaurants in town. I usually choose Indian or French food as it's generally better and cheaper than in Thailand.

I always stay at the Pakse Hotel which has a lovely rooftop restaurant. It's not the cheapest hotel but it's well run and in the heart of town.

for a french rest.?

If your going to Pakse, try and get to the 4,000 islands, because all the locals rave about it.

Sorry I don't know any names. The Pakse Hotel is French run but their menu is more International. Pakse is very small. You won't have any problem finding restaurants.
