Reality check....do coincident let me believe nonsense?

I always considered myself as very heat resistant, either that has changed or I am still not perfect after Dengue Fever....or Thailand is simply really hot.....

I recall before I was covered in sweat, now not so much, but that might be just coincidental differences.

Now the difference between sun and light rain is about 10 heart beats of 3 km/h. Does that seem normal? Currently it is not that hot (termo on the bike shows 37-40.5 degree, sometimes just 33) but very wet, so the body can't cool well.

Does that seem correct? (as well I bought the heart monitor not long ago....so the time I watch it isn't long).

Currently I try to avoid long time over 150-155 beats and try to avoid going over 170 all together. Makes sense?

(Not trained well, very hot, recently sick but I think full recovered, I worry that at longer time of >170 I fall dead from the bike).

Please criticize, tell what is nonsense and be rude biggrin.png I am looking to learn more.....

And anyone has a good trick to handle the heat better (I know hydration already, so I stop every km for a cold Singha tongue.png (just joking....I don't).

After reading through your entire post three times, some of it started to make sense.

Reality check....do coincident let me believe nonsense?

That probably explains why it started to make sense.

heat is a killer

people who live in hot climates live way shorter lives than colder climates

if it really bothers you.....consider a move to survive

i'm serious....maybe stay in thailand but find a much cooler place, if possible

i'm glad you are taking this seriously....it's very, very dangerous...

Puukao, Can you please provide a link to verify this.

i don't think it's the heat that is killing people.

Hot countries tend to be poorer with inadequate medical care.

If the heat was the most important factor then people in southern Spain should have a shorter lifespan than northern Spain. Same for Italy. I don't believe people in Vermont and New Hampshire live longer than in Florida or Arizona.

h90 -- use two bottles (or more) on your bike. use an electrolyte mixture in one and drink from that one. in the other use plain water and pour some over your head when you get hot. A wet head makes a huge difference.

If you have not been cycling seriously for very long ( a year or so ) you might find your body will take a while to adapt to the new strains expected of it .... especially if you are getting older.

learnt this the hard way until I realized that cycling during the midday hours was not a good idea and I shifted towards cycling from 5 pm onwards.

After that had no issues with health problems .

H90,

When did you 'recover' from your Dengue?

I contracted Dengue 3 yrs ago which developed into the Haemorragic stage. I still feel it took a toll, and getting back to a level of fitness took a long time. Of course I'm much older than you ;)). And I'm also no doctor, but you might want to back off a bit in the heat, or have a talk with someone medically inclined.
