There were tens of thousands of Burmese workers here then. They were - with few exceptions - very well behaved people. Most of them seem to have an instinctive civility, something they share with the Kohn Muang. Another reason for their good behavior at the time was that they would have been quickly deported for any infraction of the law, however small.
