Samui community member needs your help in finding forever homes for fostered dogs

SAMUI: A member of our community is looking for help in order to take care of some of the islands stray dogs. Here is his story.

We came to Thailand with one dog, our lovely little Maggie but quickly we came face to face with the terrible plight of home for dogs needed in Samuidogs in Thailand. Our pack quickly grew as we felt compelled to help. Sadly our time in Thailand is coming to an end and we are desperately trying to find a loving home for each one. We are trying our hardest as we cannot accept leaving them back where we found them and all the shelters are completely full.

Dodo & Bella were badly neglected and abused pets, very skinny with an array of problems. Two months later, with plenty of good food and the right treatment and vaccinations they are now fully back to good health. Dodo is a golden retriever mix, he is around 2/3 years old and a big cuddle monster! Bella is a Thai mix around 5 years, she is very calm and gentle and just wants a peaceful home to grow old in. Both are so well natured and incredibly affectionate!

Teddy was a stray who followed us home from the beach. He was emaciated with a large wound on his head when we found him. His wound and scars have healed and he is getting fatter by the day! Despite his size he is still a puppy, around 7/8 months old. We think he is a Labrador mix. He’s super loving and a big sweetheart!

All three dogs are up to date with vaccinations & flea/ worming treatments. All three dogs are neutered.

Little M is around 8 weeks old, incredibly cute, affectionate and clever! She really is a special one and will grow up to be a wonderful doggie! She is one of 5 puppies we found abandoned on the beach in terrible condition. We took them in and got them back to full health. They are de flea’d/wormed, up to date on vaccinations and now in great health. We have managed to find loving homes for four of them and trying to find one for Little M (the cutest!). She has a beautiful soul, always wanting affection from both us and our other dogs.

If you can help find a forever home for these dogs please email [email protected]

You should have thought of this before you started to take in Stray soi dogs ,If you knew that you have to leave,,,You shouldn't have taken in the dogs,,,The only way to fix the problem of stray soi dogs , is to put them to sleep then they don't have to Suffer.

The problem with stray dogs is not the animals but the people. If people take correct care of their animals there will not be stray animals. If you look at the picture do you see suffering animals ?

If it is illegal then what about an animal that is suffering??? presume a good hearted vet may prescribe a little to much pain killer...

Personally if anyone wants to the end to the problem then donate money to an organisation that will Neuter stray dogs.

you do know that is against the law to "euthanize" or plain "kill" dogs

no Vet will euthanize an animal,in Thailand

Its not against the law

Its against their religious beliefs

As decent human beings and animal lovers we could not leave the dogs where they were. We were in a position to help them, and we did, and we are still continuing to do so. After nursing them back to health and getting them the right treatment we are trying to find them good permanent homes. This was always the plan when we decided to take care of them, it's called 'fostering'. They deserve a chance to have a good life, and this is one of the ways in which we are trying to reach out to the local community here to find someone who will love and care for them the way they deserve. We absolutely DO NOT agree with the 'euthanization' suggestions / comments, nor the suggestion that we should have left them where they were. Yes there are lots and lots of dogs on this island that need help, there is a much bigger problem that needs to be addressed. We are trying to do our part as much as we can, as are many others, including neutering, hands on helps with stray dogs and also by donating to the various charities that help dogs on the island. No, they do not look like they are suffering in the photos, they look happy and healthy, as they should do. But believe us this was definitely not the case when we first saw them. And our original plan was to leave in Feb.

If there is one thing Thailand has too many of it's dogs, so please put them down. Unfortunately decent human beings constantly delude themselves they are animal lovers while eating stacks of them every year, and that's not 'different'.

Reminds me of the 'Shooting and Conservation' debate in UK. They too generate a fair amount of comments from posters with a foot in one camp or the other but very few can see it from both sides.
