Eco restaurant or eco resort to eat fresh vegetables from the garden without any pesticide ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Do you know any restaurant or resort that has its own garden (farm) and grows vegetables ?

I feel like we should encourage people doing this but it seems difficult to find a clear list.

If you are getting bored to eat the chit that Thai farmers and industry want us to eat, please keep posting here when you find restaurant with own grown vegetables.

Where is the closest eco resort from Bangkok ? Maybe Kanchanaburi ?

Thanks for help.

Now I am feeling completely depressed.

Restaurants (not) with own grown vegetables facepalm.gif

My world is collapsing.

I would warmly suggest if you into saving the Planet, or your own body temple, then the 'food miles' travelled for the average Thai vege is far less then in the west.

If you are not happy with their presentation then maybe 'grow your own'?

Maybe a move to Chiang Rai / Pai might be in order, bit greener up there if that floats your boat.

EDIT, if this is helpfull, the OP joined 3 days ago and maybe lives in Isaan if this is a guide.

Chiang Mai has the most fantastic organic farm and attached restaurant. A group of us ate there this week, and it was FULL! The locals love it. surely a good sign.

It's called OHKAJHU. Best fish and chips i've had in Asia and lashings of organic salad. 290baht with a pot of tea.

They have recently opened another branch near Airport Plaza.

This place looks rather good.

I see nothing unreasonable in wanting to find a restaurant that uses home-grown produce or organic produce from other sources.

The likelihood of there being unwanted/undesirable chemicals on produce here is much higher than in the West, I think, and that is surely something to avoid if possible (sadly not so easy to avoid here).

As for "food miles", most fresh fruit and veg in Makro Pattaya seems to come from China or even further away. If I had to live on Thai produce I dont think I would eat much more than factory-raised chicken and pork (both probably full of hormones and what-have-you), equally dodgy farmed shrimp, and rice.
